About a quarter in and finding this wonderful. The most platformy game I have played in years. Controls are so well balanced as well. Definitely scope for becoming a ninja. Only down point is the fairly awful dialogue, but it is still reasonably entertaining.

I'm in love with this game. Not only is it a total visual feast (possibly the best looking 2D game I've ever played), but it's fantastically entertaining and compelling.

Dare I say it? Possibly better than the magnificent Symphony of the Night? I think I'll wait till I've finished it before I make that judgement.

Oh, and is it true they're re-releasing AOS and HOD for the GBA? I loved those too, but was only ever able to play them through the power of yarr.

Just found Alucard in Julius mode! I couldn't believe it when I went into the room and he was there- that's my Alucard I thought ;) He's just like he is in SOTN, but he moves a little faster. Nice to see the 'sliding backwards' move is really quick to perform with Alucard, Soma seems really sluggish with this and it's hard to do it more than once in quick succession.

Shame you can't play the 'full' game with him though, but I'm still made up with it. The guy kicks a lot of ass :(

it's a lot more accessible than SoTN and i enjoyed it just as much, but then i enjoyed Aria of Sorrow similarly and for my money Dawn is a little too close to it's GBA outing. it's more Remix of Sorrow than anything. still a fantastic game but i reckon most people will get more out of it if they haven't already played AoS.

Someone on the Gaming-age forums posted this earlier today.

Aria+harmony for $30 on 6th january next year, now that is a bargain.

Maybe i should sell my copy of aria quick while it's still fetching a good price.

Only problem with the rerelease if that it will likely come in the horrible duel GBA game packaging

I'm finally playing AoS and I'm finding it more enjoyable than Dawn of Sorrow.

Could anyone tell mewhat to do in the room with the black ball on a see saw?  I can hit the seesaw with my axe and make the ball go about an inch up in the air.  I assume theres something I can do to make it fly high?

you've got the right idea. try a different weapon, something like a... mace

Having the same problem as MikeF.

I've been using the Death Scythe and...um...the locusts, as well as Golem souls to boost my strength. The first boss form is a piece of piss, but the second...Well, I can take out one of the heads, but then I get my arse handed to me (running out of health power ups / mana) before I can finish off the second. Should I be looking at power levelling before attempting it, am I using the wrong souls, or am I just crap?

Concentrate on taking out the jaws thingies, and avoiding taking damage. Attack him when you are able to. Try using a ranged bullet soul to hit him (such as Flame Demon or Killer Clown), then you'll be less likely to take contact damage.

Slow weapons like the axes / maces make you more vunerable, try using a faster weapon like the katana or rapier (the top rapier is the mutts nuts).

Final Boss

First Form : Use whatever the hell you want, dodging his attacks are piss easy...

Second Form : Recommended that you get the Valmanway from beating Boss Rush mode first of all, as it's best overall in getting rid of the floating things easily. Concentrate attacking on the knee first of all, whilst dodging the punching and stomping attacks. Do NOT use the Death soul, I REPEAT DO NOT USE THE DEATH SOUL WHENEVER YOU FINISH OFF THE KNEE. Switch to Mandragora, and use it to deal a high amount of damage to the head without using much MP. Then just keep using the Valmanway to destroy those annoying flying buggers easily, and you're sorted.

Learn his patterns. Stay close to him. I found the Axe souls to work like a charm there, since they'll do multiple hits. And if that doesn't help, just buy lots of potions at Hammer's place

The persephone soul with a fast weapon like wing knuckles or cinquedia is the best!

I wonder why no one ever mentioned persephone, or did someone?

No, no no. Fly/Jump behind him, and then use Malachi Soul on the knee-head. He won't be able to hit you when you're behind him, and the Malachi soul deals tons of damage to the knee (multiple hits).

And the head? Don't be afraid to use axe-like weapons; they're slow, but powerful. And since he'll close his mouth directly after a hit, speed won't matter.

cheers :D

worked a treat on his knee section, then I went to the Managora soul on his head and nailed him :o

I've tried persephone, but the healing effect is almost worthless, and I have several of the souls.
