Multi-team

so, last night 4 of us decided to play a game on the fancy, new multi-team playlist.

we thought there's 4 of us, so it'll put us against another 2 teams of 4. which seemed like a bit of fun.

but oh no, it decided to split us into 4 teams of 3. not only that, but we were all on different teams, stuck with a couple of randoms each - and one of mine wouldn't even speak.

what a complete pile of shite. needless to say that was the only game of that we played.

so, what i want to know is - is that really it? does it always split you randomly into 4 teams of 3?

cos if it does, that's the biggest fuck up bungie have made with the playlists since it started.

well, it's shit then.

i thought it'd match you up if you were either a 4 or a 3.

and still, when we joined as a 4, why didn't it keep 3 of us together and put the other player in another group.

shit.

and a total lag fest.

I don't think it should split twos either. I'd rather it was a ranked playlist for exactly this reason. It's likely to be full of quitters, too. As Bilco said above, we went in as a two, got loads of abuse in the pregame lobby, then it split us up. So we immediately quit out, thus probably ruining the game for two teams. Thing is, I can't be bothered to play with wankers when I'm not on the same team as my friends anyway. I may as well play rumble pit.

Does it ever split up threes? It better not do, as the best thing about this playlist should be that there's something to do when there's three of you on, and the reason everyone wants something to do with three people is that playing with randoms is (mostly) shit.

It only splits you up if it has to to be fair on everyone, same as in team training if it splits up one party it splits them all to make it fair.

The only reason it has to do that is because it allows you to take in whatever sized party. We already have team training for that. It would have been much better to cap it at up to three in the party, and give us something to do when there's three people on.

I don't think Bungie realise the magnitude of the twatishness in the Halo 2 community. I've looked forward to this for ages because playing with randoms is shit.

Minor clan as a three shoooorly. In any case I'm sure they made it unranked becuase there was a demand for it and if enough people don't like it they will change it, the number of changes they've made to the playlists as a result of feedback from the players should be proof enough of that.

Minor clan is pretty much borked in my opinion, too. It's probably fine for very good players, but the only people who play it are serious clans, and because it matches on clan level, which means nothing because people jump clans and form new ones constantly, most games are total mismatches. If it went on an average of the players playing, it would be great. As it is, we're about level 7 in minor clanmatch, and regularly get matched against level 35 plus players. It's far, far easier playing slayer at level 23.

Yes, I'm shit, I know. It's just frustrating that Bungie have done so much to create a system that gives fair matches, but then don't seem to know what to do with it, so it doesn't work like it should do.

Fair enough but the only problem I see here is that it's tough to find something good to do as a three, all online games ever have had awkward numbers that you can't really do anything with so it's hardly bungie's doing.

On the minor clan issue, if you plug away at it and get up a few levels you get past the clan hoppers, aim for about level 10 and you'll start to get allot more genuine clans.

well i have given it a bit more of a chance to prove me wrong and although going in as a 3 is the best way to go it still doesn't always keep you together, regardless of anything else it should always do that surely.

plus they should have play tested the game types and levels a bit more too. 12 people playing neutral flag on warlock is just a mess, plain and simple. why they didn't limit it to bigger levels i'll never know.

going in as a 6 is a no go too. it split everybody up even though we were in multiples of 3.

so, my verdict is still: rubbish.

what a wasted opportunity, it could have been the best playlist there.

4 way Neutral Bomb on Foundation is the worst Official gametype ever made by a long, long shot. 4 rounds of totally awful non-combat, with everyone just shooting the wrong teams, and no-one arming the bomb because no-one is sure where to plant it. Terrible. I though Plasma War on backwash and Multi-ball on Snatuary was bad...

Just tried this for the first time. What a load of bollocks! Whats the point when it splits you up? You may aswell just do a custom game.

Then we tried Team Slayer which is STILL full of latency problems. So, I return Halo 2 to the shelf gathering dust. I really wish the Limited Edition tin was worth something.

Is there something different about the damage? Because battle rifles seem weaker than in the other modes, while smgs will take out someone with a br in seconds. Also when ive been on a ghost i can be killed off it instantly where as normally im pretty indestructable on it.

Maybe you were hosting before?
