I really enjoyed episode 3 - best one by far. As soon as this happens:

Spoiler

Larry loses his wig.

...it’s brilliant from then on. Lots of plot strands weaving in and out of each other like you wouldn’t necessarily expect - and then the ending wraps them all up with a little bow.

Some great lines too:

Spoiler

‘Is there nothing you’re afraid of?’

I'm currently going through these from the start - now up to series 8 episode 5.

It's been a mixed bag so far.  Some good stuff, some forgettable, worth watching certainly, but nothing like the magic of Seinfeld for me.  Leon picks it up a bit for sure, he gets some great lines.

Episode 6 is brilliant, had me laughing out loud throughout. Probably the most laughs this season. Just a couple of weak moments:

Spoiler

The erection was predictable, and it wasn’t funny, and ‘bald fuck’ was a retread of ‘bald asshole’.

Last one was great, and I'm enjoying this season more than I remember enjoying the previous season, but at the same time it was pretty much a transplant of the final Seinfeld episode, which LD would certainly have been aware of. Can't help wondering if that means something.

There was also a scene in an earlier episode that struck me as close enough to a Seinfeld scene that you would remark on it (well beyond the standard connection). But, of course, I've forgotten the details.

Larry's now comfortably at the Tommy Cooper level of not really having to do anything to get a laugh. Just the shot of Funkhouser's girlfriend pouring out the ketchup had me laughing, and he wasn't even on screen at the time. He doesn't even have to be there! There's no real need for a tenth season, if Larry can simply go abstract.
