Matchmaking Update 02.09.05

Probably missed due to the Weekly Update focussing on the Hurricane but there was information released on Friday about the NEW playlists.

The next matchmaking update is coming soon, next week in fact! Here's a list of changes being made, for those who are interested, enjoy!

- Removed Team Preview and Rumble Preview playlists

- Added Team Snipers and Multi-Team playlists

- Removed Team Snipers from the Team Slayer playlist (for the duration of its own playlist)

- Integrated all 9 new maps into core playlists

- Removed all King of the Hill games from Head to Head

- Removed all Shotgun and Sword variants from ranked play (except Shotgun CTF!)

- Removed all powerups from the Double Team playlist

- Removed Pistols from Backwash

- Removed Multi-Flag CTF from Terminal

- Changed Rapid Assault on Sanctuary to normal Assault on Sanctuary

- Lowered weightings for Assault on Relic and Neutral Bomb on Sanctuary

- Balanced weightings to bring the new maps in line with older maps

- Lowered weighting on Foundation (again)

- Slayer based variants on Terminal and Relic will now feature BR starting weapon

Team Snipers playlist will be 4v4 unranked (hidden levels) and will feature the following maps...

Burial Mounds

Colossus

Ascension

Coagulation

Terminal

Relic

Zanzibar

Sanctuary

Turf

Headlong

Multi-Team will be 3v3v3v3 unranked (hidden levels) and will feature the following entries...

Ascension: Team Slayer, Team Crazy King

Backwash: Team Plasma War, Team Ball

Burial Mounds: Team Slayer Pro, Team Snipers

Coagulation: Team Snipers, Team Gulch War, Land Grab

Colossus: Team Slayer Human BR, Land Grab

Containment: Team Snipers, Land Grab

Elongation: Team Slayer Human BR, Team Ball

Foundation: Neutral Bomb

Gemini: Team Slayer, Team Plasma War

Headlong: Team Slayer Pro, Team Snipers

Ivory Tower: Team Slayer Pro, Team Ball, Multi Ball

Lockout: Team Slayer

Relic: Team Slayer Pro, Team Snipers, 3 Plots

Sanctuary: Team Slayer, Multi Ball, Team Crazy King, 3 Plots

All those sound ace. KOTH in Head to Head was utter shit, even though I won the one game of it I played on Lockout. Rubbish.

It's interesting that they say hidden rankings, as opposed to completely unranked as I had presumed the training playlists are?. I'm presuming though that guests won't be allowed into these though.

The removal of Sword and Shotgun only varients seems to be an admission that they were unplayable if you had any lag or latency.

Nope, team training and rumble training are in fact ranked, there used to be a simple trick on bungie.net to see your training ranks but bungie fixed that.

Never knew that, well you live and learn don't you. Although when you think about it I would imagine that the ranking idea is so ingrained in the matchmaking process that it would actually be harder to not make them ranked.

that may be why if you look on your friends list players seem to be in matchmaking but really are in team training
