Eh? Ah they showing that one again? That was on ages ago. I know because I bitched that they showed off the BFG in use. Bloody American programs.

Actually, today being Monday, I think todays was a "best of last week" show. So it would have been on before.

So much for the movie being first person.

Just watched it and theres only one main first person view and thats near the end which looks like its been copied and pasted from the game.

( Where the hell did the zombie scientist get the chainsaw from. )

:)

That's what was being said all along. It was never supposed to be entirely first person. Just a single section as a kind of tribute.

You honestly thought the entire movie was first person? :(

Would have been different, at least...

No I atleast thought there would be more than one bit but still it was bad. Would of been better in hell.

i watched it, and really enjoyed it! quite similar to resi evil, in that its a group of marines going into a complex to find out why everyones dead.

but its a good dumb action film, with some nice gore.

easily the best videogame movie ive seen so far ;)

The good - well it wasn't as bad as Super Mario Bros and thought it was better than Resident Evil. I guess they had to fill in bits of the plot seeing how Doom doesn't really have a massive one. But they didn't fill in too much!

It was perfectly funtional. There was some gore, the opening sequence had a good shot in it, the demons were ok but you didn't really see them for too long.

The Rock did fine as did Karl Urban, and the rest of the cast were decent enough marine-movie-clones. Rosamund Pike seemed like she really wanted to be in another movie.

But it was very generic, took too long to get going and the ending was pretty much a mess. Certainly not the worst film this year but not worth seeing at the cinema. Save it for DVD or Sky.

  • 3 weeks later...

That FPS scene was epic.

5Gs, Daz.

And I liked the credits. I really didn't expect it to be as good as it was - Felt the ending was the only letdown. Yes, The Rock's a wrestler, and yes they're both amazing specimen now, but some of those moves were ridiculous.

I quite liked Doom.

One thing I didn't quite like though was

The way they sort of turned The Rock into a bad guy near the end. Shouldn't he be a hard as nails punching demons in the face kind of guy?

But doesn't that happen in the game? It does in Doom 3 anyhow. Although I haven't seen it yet.

Oh man. When a movie starts referencing Event Horizon you know you're not in for Oscar material. That said, it was kind of cool that Sarge's main motivation was "acquire BFG" for the first half of the film. And the FPS sequence was brilliantly daft.

I thought this was pretty nice switch your brain off and enjoy the ride kinda film. Not really worth going to the cinema to watch though.

The FPS scene was amazing ....i was thinking that's what games on the PS4/xbox 475632 will look like. the real next next next gen starts.... there.

I also liked the fact that the Rock turned bad as it was slightly unexpected. And BFG love was cool. Dexter Fletcher was pretty good as well, although I for some reason I didnt recognise until he turned into a giant slug!

Absolutely fantastic.

Not really, its the biggest pile of shit known to man, but it kept me entertained. The amount of plot holes and events which had no relevance is brilliant, I can think of about 10 offhand!

The Rock fight was quite good at the end, and the film had some fun comedy action moments. FPS sequence had me in stiches, so shit but so good! I like how they kept it open for a sequel but was gutted that the Rock wasn't sealed off to return once again!

I couldn't figure out why the wheelchair guy turned into a monster, then I remembered he laughed when the spy guy died, they must have realised at the last minute and thought "Shit! This guy's got to be evil to turn into a monster! Quick! Think of something to covey his evilness!"

To sum up - so crap it's good!

Some bits of it were ACE some bits of it were AMAZINGLY SHITE AND PREDICTABLE. I turned my brain off well before going into the cinema and I still saw the stupid horror nuaces coming.

There weren't enough good bits to make me forget about the silly lines and nonsense plot and complete lack of ANY pacing in the thing. At the start, it was literally like they shat the marines into action on Mars. Dissapointing.
