No I just think the timer is location-based. It would be server-side if it was global but as it goes by your PC clock I assume it's location-based? Maybe someone in the US can see what the timer says.

But also, the MS press release issued recently says "The European race for entry into Origen starts on 27 September 2005."

And seeing as I think it's going to be some kind of launch party announcement, it would have to be location-specific.

It could be possible that Origen is a new game or technology that MS will announce today?

I searched Wikipedia for origen and came up with the following:

Origen (ca. 182–ca. 251) was a Christian scholar and theologian and one of the most distinguished of the Fathers of the early Christian Church. He is thought to have been born at Alexandria, and died at Caesarea. His writings are important as the first serious intellectual attempt to describe Christianity.

Maybe MS will try to start a new Religion?

EDIT: According to the website there is 45 minutes left on the counter.

well if it's Euro only it could just be the integration of Live to MSN Messenger- something the States already have with the XBox.

Look at the tree and squint your eyes- it's the shape of the MSN Messenger icon- even the shading areas are the same.

A while back I managed to set up my hotmail account/ MSN Messenger to think I was in the States. Each time a Live Buddy came on line or played a game, or sent me an invite I got a little flag pop up.

Sounds great but was actually very annoying as you couldn't control what alerts you got. I switched it off after a week.

I could be wrong though...

I'm not sure that's true, as I am registered in the UK with hotmail and xbox and i can still get those alerts.

I very much doubt it would be that. plus usa websites like teamxbox have been running a what is it about for a while now. I think it could be a launch games line up. As there has been more fruit added over time maybe it was games being confirmed by devs that they where ready for launch day.
