Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Finished this last week. Fucking loved it. Reams of text to get through sure, but it's one of the most well-scripted games in an absolute AGE. And there's plenty of character development in there amongst the plot-related stuff so you really get an empathy for the characters.

Gumshoe to return in the sequel, please! :P

Oh, and there's at least 2 twists in the various cases I really didn't see coming. Some of them are blatantly telegraphed, but it's really satisfying as it builds up to you destroying the person you've grown to hate through knowing their guilt.

Weird how it's not the most interactive game in the strictest sense, yet it's much more enjoyable than, say, Trauma Center.

Another thumbs up here... i got mine from cd-wow and it was only £21 inc delevery (which took like 3 days for me).... anyway in case 2 at the moment... and after the first case the second case is soo long... 2 hours in and only about 1/2 way i guess... also it is well scripted and is genuenlly funny... really gripping to (nearly lost it during act 2) definetly recomended for anyone happy to read text, ill recomend this over another text adventure type game like another code any day...

Can't vouch for any differences, but the one 'advantage' is if the game sells well in the US they may well translate later titles as well.

If it doesn't, well...

So yeah, support the US version of the game! :)

Finished the 2nd case last night.

The last bit I found very easy, but still enjoyed it.

The game is like a book that gives you a bit of a wake up call between chapters to make sure you're not skimming the lines.

There are tons of Japaneses games like this aren't there? I remember button pressing through some on the SNES, just wondering what the characters were waffling on about. It'd be great if someone started converting more, I'm sure they can't be that hard to do, even if they don't sell amazingly; it's only going to take, one, maybe two people to convert a title.

I'm feeling like we've been done an injustice waiting for so long with these games.

I'm loving trial number 4, it's the high point of the game so far. It's dark and dramatic and ties lots of loose ends together. It's the climactic day of the trial tomorrow, and I'm up against a dastardly adversary. *Gulp* Wish me luck!

A surprise witness! And my favourite moment so far

Pheonix points dramatically across the hushed courtroom, and announces

Let the parrot take the stand!

Brilliant.

My favourite bit was literally just after that:

The parrot's testimony, after which the judge appraises it as "the most succinct account we've had so far"!

Oh, and isn't von Karma's "OB-JECK-SHUN" growled in that deep voice quite unnerving?

I don't suppose anybody has done fan translations of any of the 3 Japan-only GBA games?

So I decided to search Google, and one guy has made a start, but he's only managed to do 15 minutes of one case, and it doesn't look like much has happened recently, so I won't hold my breath. Shame.

Looks like some of the characters in the DS edition featured in the GBA games.
