Layered Sounds 2

Aaaah yeah. Anyone who misses a bit of classic Digweed progressive funkiness should pick this new compilation up sharpish.

CD1 is a lovely downtempo mix with a fantastic ambient version of my tune-du-jour 'I'll Kill You' by Terry Grant and CD2 is a deeply funky prog-house/breaks set with more wobbly chuggy basslines than you can shake a stick at.

I'm thinking timdp and acidbearboy especially will enjoy this. £9.99 from play.com - bargain!

I'm a bit disappointed with this one - too few stand-out tracks (am talking about CD2, haven't really given CD1 a proper listen).

There are a few that I like (listened to Sk8r by Elite Force on the way into work this morning which is excellent stuff) but at the moment I'd say Volume 1 is better.

Awww! But Digweed's Fabric mix was shite!

As for Bedrock, this weekend past saw me us rediscover DJ Hypers Bedrock Breaks discs. And you know what? They were aces.

Digweed's Fabric mix was indeed shite. I was so excited about that and it was just Digweed having a wank basically. But Layered Sounds 2 is the biz, I reckon. Hyper's first Bedrock Breaks was fantastic but I never got round to picking up the second. Worth a listen is it?

The second Bedrock Breaks is well worth picking up.

Anyone tried any of the Bedrock OS mixes?

I have all three and love them.

I got the Jonathan Lisle one which I like. It start off well, sags in the middle a bit and then it's great at the end. I may check out the others then. What shall I go for first?

I'll check it out, haven't heard any bedrock stuff for ages.

And it used to be the other way round with Sasha and Diggers. Digweed would play first and then Sasha would come on and play some wanky set when they used to combo back in the day.

I haven't seen either play live for ages. Back in the day, crazy kids, etc.

*reminisces*

Go for the Desyn Masielo one.Its the first one and very nice too.

Ive only played the Luke Fair one a couple of times and need more time to get into it.

The Jonathan Lisle mix does have some cracking tunes on it.Andy Lings' Fixation is a tune I have lost it too many times.Cracking big-room-end-of-nighter B)
