Hi,

Just picked this up brand new in game for 15quid today. Anyway I ve played the first level and a bit of the second level, its like a bad version of halo.

The first level is absolutly appalling, that prolonged shoot the invisible monsters from a stationary gun bit is dreadful.

Thing is I love TS2, especially the opening level, all the sneaky sniper shots; its pure goldeneye, what the hell have they done to TS3?

Does it get better?

Im seriously thinking of leaving it back, though a few games on live where quite fun.....

I played through it once, then gave multiplayer a whirl. Both were far insuperior to 2.

i wouldn't say "far" but TS2 was more fun. I blame EA for making Free Radical or whoever makes it now try to make it more "new user friendly" with the new controls and everything. I'd still say it's superior to Halo and Halo 2, but it's no TS2.

superior to Halo and Halo 2, but it's no TS2.

Halo is a great fps, cutting-edge and tweaked to perfection.

TS is a bad fps which does absolutely everything amazingly badly and has no redeeming features whatsover.*

the only thing they could've done to make TS2 worse was to break its framerate. and lo, TS3.

*except monkeys.

Too right, Timesplitters is dire, from the rubber band aiming to the spluttering weapons.

The monkeys weren't all that either, and the challenges weren't as good as Perfect Dark's.

Didn't bother with 3 but TS2 came across to me as a shell of a game. There was no suspension of belief whatsoever, which is necessary in any reasonable FPS. It could all have been wire-frame for all I cared. I found the controls awful and the complete lack of freedom in 1 player rather galling also. Disappointing, as I genuinely tried to enjoy it.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I couldn't at all for some reason. I have no qualms about someone else enjoying it, I am just surprised at the number of people who did.

I found TS3 to be far and away the best of the series, but still couldn't bring myself to finish it. It's fast and well humoured, but I get the feeling Free Radical are still trading on GE's glory's, whilst in the meantime the genre has moved far on.

See when I played TS2 I used goldeneye controls (hold down R to aim etc) now that I ve played halo 2 and black arrow online Im used to halo controls so I play TS3 using its default halo type setting, I m sure this is contributing to its losing its goldeneye feel.

Does TS3 ever start feeling like goldeneye? At the moment it feels like a cross between halo and every bland generic PC fp3s ever released.

Where is the sneaking and snipering? Where are the precsion head shots? The weapons feel like water pistols. What the fuck have free radical done?! Or is EA behind this sabotage......

TimeSplitters Future Perfect is by far the best of the series. The single player is fleshed out with a few funnies put in and a bit of time spent on it. Much better than TS2.

The multiplayer is also top notch. I prefer every aspect of this game to TS2.

The first level wasn't great, but at least play through a bit more of it before you give up. And try mesing around with the multiplayer. It's fun.
