spoilers for ep 9 and beyond in tags

I thought I'd made a thread for this, obviously not.

So anyways. Who else is watching Series 5? I have to say that, up until last week's episode I've been finding it the weakest thus far, with the exception of the excellent Ruth and the really endearing Maggie.

Every season though they do one episode that just blows everything else on TV out of the water. Last year it was David's solo episode "that's my dog". This year's huge Holy Fuck episode was last nights. I pray there is someone else watching it? I know Pob, Popo and Rubberducker are also fans...

HUGE Spoilers for last nights episode (Ecotone) S5E09:

They killed him. The biggest OMG moment ever. You don't kill your main character with 4 episodes of the season left. The way they did it though too was just so cold and calculated. The awful stuff he said to Brenda, the comedy dream sequence, the hilarious Ruth stuff. Then WHACK, white screen. From the moment he collapsed with the "oooh Maggie's boobies" moment to the comedy ward partner and the exchange "My brain hurts" "Let's watch TV" thing it was all just shot, scripted and acted to perfection.

I really, really hope someone else has experienced that. HBO have been stamping hard on filesharers of the show this year but it's worth persevering with.

I'm a big fan of the show, but I've not got around to seeing any of the new season yet. Good to hear there's an episode to rival 'That's My Dog' in terms of drama this time around. Obviously I've not read your spoiler, but I'm looking forward to catching up even more now.

I haven't been downloading this yet, as Episode 2 seemed to be swamped with anti-P2P campaigners putting out bad data. Are they still doing that?

Yep. Links to the downloads on newzbin are always vanishing as well. I guess HBO don't get that it's Europeans doing this stuff, not people with access to their channel.

Any chance that this episode spoiler is in fact a fake leaked onto the YARR-work at the "your" expense? Like, they're taking the piss? Or is it simply "recorded off the telly over there, and shared", like?

Yeah, I think so. I’m having loads of problems getting Six Feet Under and the last few episodes of Entourage. I have Peer Guardian running but I haven’t had any luck. Damn you HBO, give me my free TV!!!!

No. 100% certain it isn't, particularly considering

they've been building upto this happening for the last five seasons...

Will be interesting to see what the next episodes are like. I assume that Nate will feature in all of them (in dead form), in true SFU-style

not to mention they have it posted on the CNN website as well

Watched the latest episode last night and am still in shock ;)

Personally, I think that this season has been great and a lot better than the 3rd and 4th seasons.

So sad to see it finishing and am looking forward to how they are going wrap things up.

It was quite easy to stop those nasty anti-p2p companies - look at the list of peers and you would notice huge amounts coming from the same 3 or 4 ip ranges - just block them and no more bad data.

EDIT: these are the bad boys - 64.34.161.88 - 64.34.178.16, 70.84.0.0 - 70.87.127.255, 208.50.192.0 - 208.51.255.255, 64.124.0.0 - 64.125.255.255

I thought I'd wait until the whole series was available. I don't mind messing around blocking IPs once, but coulnd't be arsed to do it for every episode, espeically if there was a risk the supply of episodes might dry up mid-series.

Glad to hear it's good.

or just get the 4 episode packs currently up on alt.binaries.multimedia :(

If you think it could have been a fake then perhaps my original post wasn't quite full enough of hyperbole explaining how good it was. :(

Thanks for the recommendation.

Not sure if I'll bother downloading or just wait - I prefer to watch on TV anyway and Channel 4 usually get it on pretty quick anyway.

Really looking forward to it. Do you think Nate will die in the end?

I dunno. It's SFU so anything could happen really, him dying in the final episode would be a bit predictable I think. They'll probably do something completely nuts, it won't be a case of "they all lived happily ever after"; that's for sure.

It is a bit - knowing Six Feet Under it could be anyone really - Brenda maybe?

I'd be very surprised if at least one of the main characters didn't die.

I thought this week's was mostly quite awful. With the exception of Nate's argument with Brenda in the car and he and Claire listening to Nirvana I really thought they could have done so much more with the episode given last week's events.

Mahussive spoilers.

Good at least to see the return of the kidnapper and David's apparent breakdown. Plus Brenda's comments to Maggie when she took round pie

how many episodes are there in this series?

The good news is the final episode is 15 minutes longer than the rest.

The bad news is that there is one episode less this season which means there are are only twelve this year.

The really bad news is that you've just watched episode ten.

Mostly just a bumparoonie for the title change.

Also, comments on Sunday nights ep, penultimate in the series.

It was quite good. Given how well I've gotten to know this show now and how long is left every time the screen went white I was expecting a major character to have died. I thought Claire was going to be killed by a mountain lion, Maya was going to die of meningitis, David was going to be knifed to death. It was nuts.
