lol, not quite that hard, but I know what you mean.

Lazychu - wait til Hard mode RSG :D

Expert 7 isnt hard well not after the first 20 attempts :) I think RSG has the same sort of difficulty curve in that initally you think theres no way on earth this is possible then you fly it. Just like expert 7.

When you start the game for the first time if your getting cutscenes featuring the cheerleading team this is the tutorial, found I had to sit through this rather than skipping it (repeatedly tapping the bottom right of the screen until the main menu appears) to ensure it didn't appear every time i started the game.

Once on the main menu there is a spiky circle in the right of the screen which will start the tutorial again, in the centre are two buttons with silouettes of people on. Logically button with the siliouett of one person is for single player, the one with multiple people on for multiplayer. The other button brings up the options menu.

Touching single player will take you to the difficulty selection screen, top button is normal, bottom button is easy.

There are often buttons in the button corners of the screen, touching the right one progresses you forward while touching the left one will take you back to the previous screen.

On the map of the city choose a song by touching the area near to a person, the song should start playing. I think you then touch the button in the bottom right of the screen to start playing the song.

If you fail a song you are presented two options, touch the left option to retry the current song or the right option to return to the map of the city.

Hope that helps, was just quickly written from memory as I don't have the game in front of me right now so please excuse any mistakes! - I think there may be a menu guide on gamefaqs though.

Quick question, how do you save progress? Does the game do it automatically?

Yep, it saves the songs you've finished automatically :)

I'm up to RSG on insane/cheerleader mode now, and it's kicking my arse - amazing game, though. I can't think of anything else I'd be happy to retry the same bit this many times on ;)

Man I can't stop posting about how good this game is. I'm about halfway through hard mode, and the songs really do come alive.

I had one of those strange zen moments where I was no longer thinking about how to keep up or panicking about huge strings of hits. Just calmly following the song and loving every moment. "Linda Linda" is so much better on hard than normal.

I got quite a few A ranks and an S ranks in Hard, yet for life of me I can't get any A or S ranks in easy mode. What the hell is going on?

To get an S rank you have to have 90% perfect hits (i.e "300's") and no misses. So its 10% "bad" hits ("100's" and "50's"). You can make a miss on a slider, but it means you'll get a low scoring S rank.

Thing is, its hard to get an S rank on Easy mode because the 10% is usually a very small amount of bad hits, usually about 7 or 8 - should be easy, in theory, but i always find i mess up on easy when it comes to S ranks ;) Harder modes are much easier, ie on RSG hard you can get like 38 bad hits!

The harder modes follow along to the lyrics much more clearly than the easier modes too. On easy it seems to bear almost no relation to the lyrics at all which makes it harder to get the timing right.

The game really does come alive on the harder difficulties.

Well, I got this for xmas and have been playing it a lot since. Just beaten RSG on normal, so I think it's about time I joined the love in.

Wonderful, wonderful game. A total joy to play, as evidenced by me not actually getting that frustrated, despite the number of times I have sat through the RSG intro. I've played it purely with the sound going through my main speakers, loudly, so I'm not sure I'll be able to adapt to playing it through the DS speakers, but apart from that, it's completely suited to the hardware. Another great advert for the console.

I'm now really looking forward to going through it on hard, because there were quite a few songs I would have liked to have spent more time on first time through. I actually deliberately messed up 'Over The Distance' because I thought I was going to finish it in one go, and I didn't want that.

So: :D , basically.

I got this for Christmas and I think I'm doing the easiest difficulty, completed 3 missions so far (man wanting quiet, girl with crush on her boss/teacher? And a Horse stopping a robbber) and I feel like I'm not improving at this, still as crap as the first time I tried the game out, and my stupid hands get in the way of the screen. I've gotten 'D' ranks on every mission so far.

It's a fun game, but I'm struggling to make any progress now, even on easy. Loving the music on this.

Easy mode is almost made harder because of the relative lack of beats, once you get to the harder songs/difficulty settings you'll see what I mean. It's also like Gitaroo Man in as much as you'll find yourself improving without actually realising you're improving .... if that makes any sense at all. It's only when you go back to easier levels that you realise how much better you've become.

As for you hands, get yourself over to the Trading folder and buy a lovely wooden stylus from Blue, it makes DS games (and Ouendan in particular) so much easier.
