August 22nd, Cineworld Cinema (previously UGC) Edinburgh.

Just announced today, this has made me very happy indeed! I got my Edinburgh International Film Festival programme through the post this morning, you can also see it on the EIFF site or the press release here.

So, I think I'll be pulling a sickie on Friday and go down to the cinema to grab my tickets!

Also can you just buy a ticket to see Serenity, or do you have to buy a ticket to the whole festival as well? Live nowhere near Scotland (Suffolk), but Birthday on 14/8 so might be a late birthday treat...

No such thing as a ticket for the festival, mate. It's just a month and a half long series of individual events that make up the film, book, and Fringe festivals (probably some more in there, too! (Edit: Oh yeah, the games festival, too. You'd think I'd remember that seeing as we are on a games forum! )). So you buy a ticket for this, you're sorted. Except for travel, and accommodation, which is an absolute nightmare in Edinburgh around festival time.

Had a quick look, flights about £80 not too bad, how much can i expect to pay for a bog standard room for one night then during the festival?

Hmm, I couldn't really tell you, I'm afraid. But I'd imagine it'll be very expensive around festival time.

Yeah all fairly expensive or sold out.  Think I'll train it up on the Monday then get the earliest train back on Tuesday morning and hopefully avoid staying anywhere.  Yes I am a cheapskate.

Well, as much as I want to see the film early, I don't think I'd fancy paying £100 for it either... :)

I wish I could go, but I can't justify spending 50 quid each to go :(

When's the official release date for the UK?

Desperate to see this film tho, my most anticipated film this year bar none.

Awesome.

When did the UGC become Cineworld Cinema. I was just there two weeks ago. I hope my unlimited card still works.

The card still works fine. Not sure when the name changed, but they haven't changed the front signs yet. Apparently it'll be done in time for the start of the film festival though.

Checked this lunchtime, and the booking office (web, phone & physical) for the EIFF opens at 12.00pm (midday) precisely.

Bookings via the website, phone on 0131 623 8030 or in person at either the Filmhouse or the Cineworld.

Me? I've got the reminders set in Outlook so tomorrow at 11.45am my PC is going to scare the bejesus out of everyone, and the holiday request in so I don't have to bother gothing to work over those few days (I'm planning on grabbing tickets for the session with Whedon as well as the Serenity premiere).

Yeah, same here! Planning to get my tickets from the cinema myself, according to the programme I got, you get discounts if you're a unlimited card holder and you book in person.

I'm so tempted to geek it out, and buy one of those PvP 'Joss Whedon is my master now' T-shirts...
