That was shit!

It's Sunday, I've finished football training as there was no game this week, and now I'm looking for some football banter before QPR play Spurs. I inevitably end up in here, because you guys are so predictable. RVP scored a hatrick, and is now the best striker in the world!? haaaaa.. never mind that he played pretty poor for most of the game, giving the ball away or getting muscled out of it near enough every time he had it, and missing 2 sitters, or the fact that the first 2 goals have been put on a plate for him. Na he's the best striker in the world!

What are you doing with your Sunday putana? Helping Mummy peel the spuds?

Didn't you just have a meltdown because someone made a mild joke about your mum? You do realize that there was no difference betwen the two jokes right, and this just makes you look even more special?

And to think we nearly sold him for ten odd million. But still, agree with Daley. He's had wicked luck, bad times indeed.

So, what's the latest opinion on Santos? Obv. valid question marks over his fitness but quite how you can end up looking so unfit as an international footballer I'll never know. Anyway, utterly horrible in the first half but somehow he seemed to find energy from somewhere and to actually end up scoring a goal was amazing :D . I tend to think he's a bit like Luzhny, a bit of lump who can get up and down but you can't really rely on him. For some reason I'm warming to him though. He can only get better, right?

Santos might get better defensively but he looks really, really poor at the moment. He dives in too easily and his positional sense is attrotious. He's not exactly the right age to be making huge improvements in his game in that respect. On the other hand his fitness can only improve and if he can get up and down that line with a bit more regularity and pace then he'll do OK. He looks every inch a panic signing but he's entertaining going forward that's for certain.

I reckon he's going to become our new Eboue, except that he can cross and shoot, as well as being useless in defence.

Players of "International quality" who have fitness issues? Arshavin's first in line for that :) Is Santos Brazil's first choice left back?

I don't think he got in the latest Brazil squad at all for a couple of friendlies next week. I still think Gibbs is first choice but is injured pretty much every other week so we need decent cover.

Santos just isn't used to the pace of the league so he gets caught out. Happens to most defenders who come to the prem.

He does look about a stone overweight too. He's like our own little Akinfenwa.

Akinfenwa being a whole elephant overweight. I really don't understand how he lasts a match and scores quite regularly.

Santos I like, he has the skills, he's just gotta settle down and keep training.

Agree with this. I remember Evra's debut for United. He had a nightmare and was subbed at half time (I think). He's brilliant on the ball and going forward and we've missed that since we had Cashley.

He's not played in any top European league, so he won't be used to anything like this, so he needs time. If Gibbs wasn't made out of glass, I'm sure he'd still be on the bench at the moment.

So Ballon d'Or 2011 time: No RVP which seems extraordinary to me - only Ronaldo has a higher goals to game ratio. Attacking players like Benzema, Nani, Forlan and Suarez are included, none of whom are even close to RVP in terms of ability, quality or even, y'know - goals.

That list in full:

Éric Abidal (France)

Sergio Agüero (Argentina)

Karim Benzema (France)

Iker Casillas (Spain)

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)

Dani Alves (Brazil)

Samuel Eto’o (Cameroon)

Cesc Fàbregas (Spain)

Diego Forlán (Uruguay)

Andrés Iniesta (Spain)

Lionel Messi (Argentina)

Thomas Müller (Germany)

Nani (Portugal)

Neymar (Brazil)

Mesut Özil (Germany)

Gerard Piqué (Spain)

Wayne Rooney (England)

Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany)

Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands)

Luis Suárez (Uruguay)

David Villa (Spain)

Xabi Alonso (Spain)

Xavi (Spain)

How is it the same? I haven't disrespected his mother in any way, I asked if he was helping her prepare sunday dinner. You clunge.

edit:

I jokingly suggested FATEone's mum may have played for QPR because he was getting overly aggressive about people saying Spurs were the much better side so maybe that was why he was so 'passionately' attacking people.

He somehow took that as a personal slight against his parent and went all loony toons with hilarious results for all to see.

It was a surprise to see him use someone else's mum in a similar way though.. bless.

Didn't the other guy suggest your mum played for QPR? Hardly a grave insult so not really seeing the difference there bro.

What? A random coming straight into a conversation likening your mother to a footballer for a men's team is not taking the piss? Especially when it has fuck all to do with what we were talking about.

I've realised that you lot aren't actually the most deluded fans around, it's them fucking idiot spurs fans. How they can see something so completely blinkered is beyond me. All I said was QPR made it easy for them, by how uncharacteristically poor they played in the first half. Somehow they take that as me saying QPR are a better team than Spurs, and they were lucky or some shit. Anyway, I know none of you care, and I don't much either, I'm just saying.

If his mum plays for QPR she must be a man. Not only does that make for a confusing home life, it also means all his mates are gay.

That's gonna make St Totteringham's Day 2012 even more sweet than normal.

Or they finish in 4th, we finish in 5th (on goal difference, say). And we win the Champions Cup. That'd be funny - maybe even funnier.

Also, while Guardian linking, this is a good article:

It starts of blatantly scaremongering, but by the end makes Kroenke seem pretty decent.

Sky are so fucking shite, the doom and gloom their pundit collective spouts whenever Arsenal play is mental. We all know we're not Barcelona but some of the comments are shockingly poor. Will we win tonight? Who knows? But to start off a CL show slagging us off - AGAIN - is a bit boring and predictable.
