Every year we have a couple of first teamers out long term!! It would be nice if for once we could go through half a season with our first choice eleven!

I wonder if it's something all teams go through really though, but it's more noticeable at Arsenal because we don't have the back-up other teams do. I mean, United could lose a player for a season and replace him and aside from Rooney, you wouldn't even notice he was gone because the replacement would be so good and fit in so well. At Arsenal we lose a player for the season and draft in a thirteen year old so you really notice those big players not being there.

Or maybe our injury record is genuinely worse. I dunno.

i don't think replacements are the issue.

Arsenal initally lose a player for 2 weeks...which becomes 2 months...which becomes 6 months...etc

it's like the medical team don't know what to do with injured players.

All teams lose players but when it comes to players that u would class as the spine our team we always have worse injuries compared to other teams. With fabregas gone it's just typical that wilshere would get injured for half a season. And with vermaelen and RVP that's the spine. Man ute tend to get trouble in defence but not really anywhere else across their spine. Liverpool have gerrard but can't think of others off the top of my head and Chelsea bar essien are normally pretty good. It's the fact as has been said, we get told a player will be out for a few days or a few weeks which ends up being 6months or a season. It's like our medics don't have much of a clue. I think we'd rather hear a player is out for a couple of months (fearing the worst) and he comes back in one month.

I was listening to a fan on the radio who went to the game and he was slating Walcott. Now after watching football first it looks to me that Walcott had a good game, he played some very good balls into the box and was a bit of a menace! Yes he missed a one on one but he is only human and the very best players do miss them. People just really need to lay off the guy! I truly believe he is one of our best players and has been arguably our best player this season.

He did look better than usual yesterday (which isn't that difficult really) but his attempt when one on one was pretty poor.

He has become an easy target to slate I suppose, so ok he did have a decent game yesterday.

Did he get injured yesterday?

He needs more confidence/practice in shooting - though I'm sure he gets enough in training it just doesn't translate to the pitch when it matters - if he wants to step up and become more of a striker that has to improve.

Heard he had a hamstring tear when he first came off, not sure if that's been diagnosed further though.

It was always gonna happen though. Why would he sign now and not wait until January or maybe even next summer to see what's going on an Arsenal. It's his last big contract so it's got to be the right one.

It's our fault again, we should have sorted this earlier and had it sewn up no later than summer '11.

They might yet sign new deals. RvP is not saying he won't sign, says he wants to concentrate on football and not cause a distraction. There's no indication that Vermaelen won't sign. Walcott is in the same boat, and Arshavin if anyone cares.

My money is on RvP and Vermaelen fucking off, to be perfectly honest. RvP is our highest paid player, probably £70-80k if recent reports are correct. Unless we can double that and show some ambition in the transfer market why would they sign? Sorry to say that I'd probably go too. I would like to think that RvP would be honest if he definitely intends to leave and let us maximise the fee. Same for Vermaelen given the fact that we've paid him in full for not very many games. But there's no loyalty, money talks. City or United or Chelsea will give those two players £100-150-200k per week for certain.

It's all speculation but if these two go, on top of Cesc and Nasri, it will be a massive kick in the bollocks. The Club needs to take a long hard look at itself and re-evaluate things from top to bottom. This has been the case for some time. I'm happy to support a team with no money and little ambition as long as we all know where we stand.

Oh, and Stan. Where the fuck are you, you dozy money making cunt?
