Arsenal guys, do any of you constantly go into the United, Liverpool etc. threads and behave like utter dicks or are we the only team that has to put up with it?

We have our fair share of bells in the Liverpool thread. No idea about the United one as I never go in there.

No. I don't think you have to accept it as part of the culture at all. If it's all well and good with you and your mates then fair enough. But you behave like an anti social arsehole with absolutely no awareness or subtlety. Hey, you're not even close to being funny or relevant either. You pretty much just fucking suck in every way mate :) .

well too thin skinned mate, well too thin skinned to be raising your pulse over a jibe about two guys who have been arsenal players for half a day.

i never realised football fans aren't allowed to take jibes at each other. Must apologise to those Arsenal fans i watched last weekend's game with...

It adds literally nothing though. This isn't 'the pub', it's stuff that's written down and stays there. Nobody gives a shit except for the person posting it.

It's not about that, it's about the incessant sniping and thinking you're funny. You're not. It doesn't rile me in any way, it just gets on my nerves like any other kind of ugly noise does.

Yeah, and I bet they were on the verge of smacking you in the mouth. A luxury we don't have, unfortunately.

why? that would be bad form, they'd do the same to me. To be fair it was so bad that everyone went easy on the Arsenal guys, apart from us trying to hold the giggles in once no.7 and 8 flew in.

incessant, means i've been doing it continously, if you look at my posts in this thread i've only ever engaged in discussion. Still can't understand how on harmless jibe hurts you so much

I'd like to think this is like a pub. The Arsenal thread is an Arsenal pub full of Arsenal fans discussing Arsenal, the Liverpool thread a Liverpool one and so on. If someone would walk into the middle of an Arsenal pub and take the piss you are a knob. Discussion is fine but take your jibes and banter and shit to the Football Thread or to your "mates" next time you see them.

(Not aimed at you just how I see it.)

Well getting back to arsenal our starting 11 looks alot healthier as does our squad. Predictions when everyone is fit? I say: back five speaks for itself. Mid three of song( hopefully Emmanuel "the rock" frimpong by the end of the season) wilshere and arteta. Then a front three of gervinho, Walcott and RVP. Looking good. 

This thread is for Arsenal fans to talk to each other. See dogsout and SMD as examples of supporters of other teams who can manage to take part in a decent discussion objectively without winding up the people who this thread was made by, and for.

nah, the football threads are just plain weird, people get negged in the arsenal, liverpool and united threads for doing nothing than just add an opinion. And there is waayyy to much sensitivity, to such an extent that some posters don't welcome other fans into their thread. If these threads are like pubs then it would be like the dodgey Hammers one i live near where oppposition fans wouldn't dare go into due to fear of being glassed

Yeah we have a couple of decent options in each position now, plus some spare shizzle. Nicking this:

GK - 13 Szczesny | 21 Fabianski

RB - 3 Sagna | 25 Jenkinson

CB - 4 Mertesacker | 6 Koscielny

CB - 5 Vermaelen | 20 Djourou

LB - 11 Andre Santos | 28 Gibbs

DM - 17 Song | 26 Frimpong

AM - 19 Wilshere | 16 Ramsey

AM - 8 Arteta | 30 Benayoun

LW - 27 Gervinho | 23 Arshavin

CF - 10 Van Persie | 9 Park

RW - 14 Walcott | 15 Chamberlain

Plus Almunia, Squillaci, Miquel, Coquelin, Rosicky, Diaby, Ryo and Chamakh knocking around too. Ain't too bad, and obviously we're in much better shape than we were a few days ago.

Actually, that reads quite well. If we can integrate everyone quickly, keep up the good football and get a bit more direct we've got a chance.

Do we think Benayoun will play back there then? I'd have thought he would play further forward, to the point that on there I would probably say Diaby/Rosicky (depending on fitness) were more likely to play in "central" midfield with Benayoun backing up Walcott.

Not nit-picking, by the way, just curious as to where people think we'll use him. I am liking that starting eleven too - I think we might be a bit more direct and/or willing to shoot than we have been in previous years with players like Hleb, Nasri and Cesc always trying to play that extra pass and walk it into the net.

apart form the centre back benny and arteta are a grade down from nasri and fab. i'm not too sure i'm convinced about your strength. Benny was great at Liverpool, and i was disappointed to see him leave but he was only a squad player there and was going to be the same for Chelski. Arteta is just way too injury prone and has been a liability because of it, i think £10m is a good deal for everton, he's past his peak, hitting 30, its just a shame it was too late in the day to reinvest.

You're probably right that Benayoun will more likely be used to cover one of the wide forward positions. I do think he could also fill in the No10 spot if our shape is more like a 4-2-3-1 though. With two more solid players behind him, two from Song, Frimpong, Wilshere, Ramsey or even Rosicky when he can be arsed, I think that could work too.

You're forgetting that Gervinho is actually Nasri's replacement, not Benayoun, and there's a good chance he'll turn out to be more effective than Mr Half Season. Benayoun is just a nice bonus which unquestionably strengthens our options.

As for Arteta, he made more appearances than Cesc in 08/09 and 10/11, so I'm not sure it's right to raise injury-proneness as an issue when comparing the two. I think it's also fair to say that any effort to replace Cesc like-for-like would have been futile, and we instead seem to be moving slowly away from that way of playing, and should be less reliant on a single visionary playmaker in future.
