Arsenal

There are contradicting reports. Some saying it's going ahead, others saying it's not and we haven't budged on our valuation on him. We'll find out soon enough either way.

Don't think it's about valuation. The reason it broke down earlier was over personal terms. As far as I've read it's going ahead but there might not be enough time to do all of the necessaries. Unless we do what we did with Arshavin-do it hours afterwards and claim bullshit about paperwork errors that allow us the extra time to do the deal.

No it wasn't. Arteta handed in a transfer request to come to Arsenal after the deal broke down, why on earth would he do that if broke down because we hadn't agreed personal terms?

That's what I'm trying to work out. Everyone said the initial breakdown was due to personal terms and whilst he's now forcing the move, he hasn't handed in a transfer request. I wonder then if there was an issue about us paying for specific aspects of his contract, like a loyalty bonus that he's now willing to waive?

Going back to what I was saying earlier, this Benayoun deal sums it up. All deals done on the cheap, late and panicky. Not very impressive at all really. Pleased with Mertersacker but almost like we just took what we could get late on rather than identified players and went for them. It's all shoddy, last minute and sub-standard. Not pleased personally.

The Meireles request is because of interest from Chelsea. I'm reading that we're in advanced talks with Everton, but it's going to right to the deadline. Apparently only an agreed fee and a signed contract from Arteta are needed by 11. Medical and other formalities can be completed afterwards.

Moyes: "Mikel informed me that he wished to join AFC. I am disappointed to lose him but the prospect of CL was something I can't offer"

You could argue that you've bought two proven premiership players.

Not megastars by any means but good squad players to have as backup for Wilshire and Ramsey

So what is it so far.. Santos, Benayoun, Park, Mertesacker..

Maybe Meireles wants to go to Arsenal? That'd be perfect right now.

I just said to someone on Twitter that if Meireles had handed his request in a couple of hours ago I'd have personally driven him to London Colney to get signed; he's excellent.

It'd be hilarious if he turned up at Arsenal when everyone's talking about him going to Chelsea.

It'd be fucking brilliant.

Scandalous rumour is now that Arteta has been at London Colney since 6pm. Sounds like bollocks but if true makes signing much more likely.

They've had shots of him skulking about like a rapist outside Goodison Park for ages. He's waiting to fax off his signature apparently.

JUST IN: 'PC Load Letter' error scuppers deal.

Love how Jack has been following all of this as if he's a fan.

Yea no following the party line or anything. He tweeted this an hour ago:

ARTETA back on! Come on you Gooners!

And then this

The funniest #DeadLineDay joke I got today was #Kaka to spurs haha #beserious

Little legend.
