Apparently we bid £4m for Arteta yesterday. Fuck me, there's being cheap and there's being cheap.

If you think about it all our latest deals have been Wenger scouring the bargain bin.

Santos? Fenerbache got thrown out of Europe right? Might have needed to sell to make up some of the Champions League money?

Park? Monaco went down.

The German? One year left on his contract.

Wenger's like a vulture.

I am not moaning and it's good that Wenger is getting value but this is still Tesco's value shopping rather than Harrods. Some of them are practically yellow sticker reduced must sell today buys. Wasn't Gervinho also one year to go?

I have to take issue with your use of "Wenger" there. He isn't some all-powerful overlord who conducts every part of the transfer process from beginning to end. To accuse him personally and solely of penny pinching is a bit Talksport.

Who decides which players we buy?

Just to clarify i'm not really complaining but there seems to be a "searching for value" element in all the buys. Not that he shouldn't.

A strategy to deal with the inflated wages players are after maybe? Buying players cheaper means you can pay them better.

It's not that accurate-otherwise I'd be Captain for this season.

My Arsenal have M'Vila in the DM position. And we have Hazard. And Navas. And Aguero. And Sakho. And Kjaer. And Pato. Etc.

Bendtner plays pretty much every game though. Pato is getting a bit stroppy about that, but he'll just have to get used to it.

Who the fuck cares how much he pays, how long they had left on their contract or what condition their previous cup was in? At the end of the day he's signed a fully-fledged German International with tonnes of experiences who just so happens to be so fucking tough that he can take a ball full on in the face and still high five his keeper straight afterwards.

He's signed a direct replacement for Clichy, as has been asked, who's one of a few in consideration for Brazil's national team in that position, and a Korean striker who has done pretty well for himself on the International stage and will probably also earn back his transfer fee before he leaves for national service (which is the only real downside to his signing at this point).

Hopefully these signings all point to a change of system, they've all got a bit of height to their game too (Santos is apparently the shortest at 5'11) and we're still being linked to more players in various positions.

Thats not particularly aimed at you Daley, I've seen a few Gunners who are genuinely complaining and citing the same sort of thing as in your post though which is annoying. It seems some won't be happy unless we do a Man City and pay over £25m for every player in every position plus his backup.

Who cares? A player's a player, regardless of his price. Isn't our record transfer still Arshavin? Yeah, that went well.

I believe we've made another signing, its nothing official yet but Arsenal.com's web editor seems to be able to multi-task, type and upload at a rate that is much quicker than his/her predecessor. £10m well spent! ;)

Arsenal.com is usually really slow when it comes to being updated, look at the signing of Gervinho for example. Wenger confirmed the signing in an interview and we didn't see anything on the site for days afterwards, the signing of Jenkinson was similar as was Arshavin iirc. Today the site has been the one to confirm the signings to the press.

I was merely taking the piss out of Arsenal.com

Benayoun really? Doesn't surprise me that the only players we could get were ones surplus to requirements at other clubs at this late stage.

Because Mertesacker, Park and Santos were surplus to requirement and Arteta is unwanted by Everton?

Both would be nice, but if the only other player we get in now is Benayoun I'll not be particularly impressed. Our business so far today has been solid enough but not spectacular, and not, you would imagine, enough to placate some of the club's more outspoken critics.

I'd be happy if we got Benayoun in addition to Arteta, but if we just got him I'd be totally gutted. Sky think we're 'preparing' a £10m bid for Artera though. What 'preparing' needs doing I don't know - picking out the briefcase to courier the bank notes over presumably?

We're in for both as far as I understand it but nothings confirmed just yet. Would like both though.

Would prefer Hazard/Kaka/World Class midfielder, but it's never gonna happen. Arteta and/or Benayon would be interesting signings, certainly not the usual Wenger kind of signing.

If Benayoun and Arteta go through, Wenger will have bought half a team in the last few days, all over the age of 25 in positions that needed strengthening, with tons of experience, and a couple with tons of Premier League experience.

And still people are bitching about it.
