It's ok guys you only need a left back, 2 centre backs, a centre mid, a winger and a striker to have a decent crack at coming 4th.

Obviously you will sort this out because

A: All the good players who were realistic targets have already gone elsewhere.

B: Nobody wants to join a team with no ambition that just got beat 8-2.

:(

Jenkinson should never have got himself sent off like that. That wasn't inexperience, that was just frustration and blatant unprofessionalism .

As for Wenger, he just sat on the bench like a lemon. He looked like a man who didn't have a clue.

i agree with the jenkinson thing he shouldn't have got himself sent off. contrary to most fans, i think he has been shit for us in the games he has played but you can't blame the lad, he was playing non league football last year!

as for wenger, what the hell could he do?? put on Sunu to change the game???

It's going to take more than whatever tin pot, reduction aisle shite we've bought and are likely to buy to convince me Wenger can take us anywhere now. There's no way back for him now.

At this exact moment in time I feel the same way :( . Wenger puts these teams out. We're mentally weak, can't defend and none of the faults we see week in week out are ever rectified. Regardless of injuries and suspensions these are Wenger's players and to lose 8-2 is unbelievable. No other team in the Prem would have lost that heavily today.

He's 19 years old playing at Old Trafford in his first season of Premier League football and he was chasing back to trying and stop Manchester United from scoring their fucking seventh goal on his watch.

Why don't you just stop being a dick for a little while.

Sorry, you just don't do what he did, especially being on a yellow. Scoreline & location is irrelevant.

Oh and this Wenger interview is comical.

Get off his arse and wave his arms around like a madman? I don't know, perhaps a visual presence on the sideline might have done something. Or maybe some instructions & tactical changes, or am I just thinking irrationally?

So, I've got a kids' size jersey with JVC on the front, so been following Arsenal for a long time now. I'm struggling to think of a similarly large defeat, although admittedly that could be because I've repressed it.

I just can't get my head around our current position.

It's the first time in their history they've shipped eight goals in a top-flight match.

We've lost badly at Old Trafford before. I still think Wenger is the best manager available at the moment.

Yeah, the stats aren't pretty. We haven't conceded 8 goals in 115 years. Suppose Wenger has created some more history for himself there.

When you've been at a club as long as Wenger has, you'll always make history, both good and bad.

It's obvious the board are letting Wenger down, but the tactical naivity is unforgivable. The main problems today were at the back, but let's not forget that the two centre backs are first team regulars and the right back is a new signing. It was our first choice front three. There's injuires, but the main bulk of the people out there today are expected to do a job within our squad for the rest of the season. If they're not up to it you have to ask what the fuck they're doing there. People like Jenkinson and Ramsey are looking about for help and you've got sone bone idol cunt like Traore or Arshavin in the trenches with you, I mean they've got no hope.

If the name Arsenal wasn't on that shirt today you'd look at that team and say they were relegation fodder. It's been like that for six months and people like Cahill or Park aren't going to magically change that. All the hard work from Wednesday has been rubbed out. What sort of player is going to look at that and think 'that's a bit of me'?

I don't know. I think the fans need to force some kind of statement from the Club, where we're heading, how much money is there and all that. The board needs to say something and Kroenke has been disgracefully quiet. In terms of Wenger's position, I do wonder if we simply need a new manager. It can't last forever and to build us back up now to a truly competitive level is a massive job. Can he do it again? There are certain things like our lack of organisation, chaotic defending and mental fragility that never ever gets addressed and he brushes it off and comes out with the same stuff every week. It makes me think his time has been and gone. I'm not sure how motivated anyone looks at the moment, it's been too easy for too long and the losing habit is established in the Club.

It's not tactical naivity as much as playing in a team in which anyone over the age of 24 or so isn't even trying.

"Wenger: “I am very open to signing players if we find players who can strengthen the team. We have a lot of people working on that”"

Dear Arsene, that is literally everyone that can walk on two feet.

Quite. Names like Parker, Baines and all that get thrown around and we question whether they're Arsenal class and would they improve us but yes, they fucking well would improve us.

I tell you what, if we didn't already we should be fining Song two weeks' wages. I'm not saying we'd have had a chance, but I doubt we'd have shipped 8 if he wasn't such a massive cunny.

after todays performance, everybody should be fined 2 weeks wages!

I just hope you all bear in mind that this just happens to teams every so often. It's horrible, but it doesn't last for ever. This time last season, as a Liverpool fan, it felt desperate. The team looked depressed, nothing went our way. One season later, not everything's perfect, but the team are playing like a team, confidence is up, it looks good.

Wenger's a good manager, but he seems to have lost the confidence of his players. A change might not be such a terrible idea. But if it's going to happen it must happen now.

But it is naivity. Time and time again Utd exposed the full backs who were usually left a mile up the pitch. Everyone could see that, it was pointed out at half time, it was even pointed out to the players whilst they were on the pitch. But it kept happening. We were caught with too many men forward all game, but again it was the same thing. We set up the same way from the first minute to the last and that is just unbelievable.

We've lost at Old Trafford before, but usually we'd put some fight up or the team would be depleted through our annual winter injury crisis, this is the first time it's been pure incompetence from top to bottom.

Regardless of the scoreline, I think Coquelin can be proud of the way he played today. He had a good game.
