Udinese weren't as good as they would have been with a bit more fitness, but I quite liked the look of that Arsenal. Not having Chamakh, Koscielny and Arshavin was lovely to be honest.

Nasri is irreplaceable for those three months when he was good, but I don't really care that he's gone because those three months were a bit of the fluke. All the rest of the time he would be easy to replace. I got negged for saying Fabregas was a captain that won nothing, but him as much as anyone was responsible for various collapses. Van Persie didn't let that happen - he got the equaliser but he was involved.

Good all round. And an excellent result - Hazard and Jagielka tomorrow.

Anyway, that was better than I could have imagined. I thought Frimpong had done OK so the substitution was a surprise but fair play it was a good move if it wasn't forced through an injury. I think Song had a really good second half. The two new boys were outstanding. Gervinho looks magic at times but Jenkinson, considering where he came from, has been amazing. Certainly wasn't the kind of signing we were hoping for but really impressive IMHO. Ramsey was terrific.

I think everyone did well tonight, so pleased for Arsene. Now for the signings.

Perfect height is two feet lower than that, and the fact is he fucking drilled it too. Yes, it could have been a touch higher, in which case it would have been unstoppable. As it is, it was a decent pen, which required outstanding keeping to stop. I'm genuinely astonished at reaction, even by footie thread standards.

Chesney is fucking superb. And just the right amount of crazy too.

He's at full stretch you belm. Also it's one thing to get your fingers on it, but to have the strength to get it over the bar is amazing. Maybe you're so used to having your keeper fumble shots into his own goal you've forgotten what a real save is.

Aye, he's properly smashed that penalty and to get enough of a hand behind it to turn it over is amazing.

"WHAT A SAVE" is trending on twitter, along with "Wojciech Szczesny" as if people are copying and pasting his full name rather than trying to write it themselves.

You've come into a thread and made Mr Dinobot look reasonable and knowledgeable - you need to look at yourself pretty hard if that happens.

Guardian reckons we've bid £22m (!) for M'Vila. I'm kinda surprised in a way but I guess it'll be good to be able to ease Frimpong in a bit more. It's not fair to expect him to be Song's only cover when he goes to the ACN.

Also lots of noise about Marvin Martin, who looked excellent for France when I saw them recently, and of course your man Hazard.

Man, if all those dudes came in, plus a centre back, well that'd be unbelievably sweet. And has anyone bought Aly Cissokho yet? He's a pretty decent left-back.

You know, we'd have been properly on the back foot and potentially staring down the barrel of an awful season if he hadn't made that save. It was an excellent save under pressure, you'd have to be fairly obtuse to argue otherwise.

Cissokho is massively overrated in my opinion, very inconsistent. With the quoted price for him it's no suprise he hasn't moved. Not sure he'll even be first choice for Lyon as the season progresses. Martin is ace though.

Really? I guess I've only seen him on his good days then. :) How much are Lyon asking?

To be honest at this point I'd also rather have a good striker than Hazard if we're spending big money on an attacker. We seem to have a lot of wide forwards but look light at centre forward if Bendtner goes, especially when Chamakh buggers off to the ACN.
