£200,000 a week tax free.

£5,000,000 tax free for signing with them.

Prick. If he wants to sit on a bench to 'win trophies', then let him. Like we should give a fuck.

Wait, what? Have Man City got some sort of deal with the Inland Revenue? Crafty!

(Presumably you mean "after tax", in which case I'll call bullshit on that, because it would be £400k a week gross)

Well I don't give a stuff about the money, I give a stuff about the calibre of player it will allow us to attract in the next 7 days. That's the really important thing.

If a players decision to join us is based on us playing Champions League football then fuck them. I want players who want to play for Arsenal.

I thought City paid their players' tax bills?

Otherwise his £200k a week wage would be what, £95k a week after tax?

From what I've heard City are going to pay him £170k a week and a signing on fee so huge it boggles the mind. That'll make up for the paltry £170k a week he'll be earning.

Really? why would players want to join a team NOT competing in big competitions?

Because if all they want is CL football, then they'll soon be pounding down the managers door when we fail to qualify or get knocked out early in the competition. There is some method to Wenger's madness of bringing young players through the system, but it needs a balance of experienced players to play alongside them.

I think Parker would be an excellent addition to the team. He won't act like a petulant bellend either as he's proven to be a decent pro, even when relegated. That's the type of player we need, not another Adebuyor.

In case people haven't seen these stats doing the rounds on Twitter:

Nasri's best season (2010-11): 15 goals, 5 assists. Arshavin made 3 times as many assists and scored 10 goals.Underrated

Nasri vs Arshavin: Assists per game: 0.21 - 0.31; Goals per game - 0.13 - 0.26;

Arsenal's record in league games with Nasri starting: win 49% of games, 1.63 goals per game. Without? 62% win, 2.54 goals per game

And I wonder what Frimmers was about when he just tweeted this?

I'd like one more, ideally. Someone who can play more or less anywhere in the top half of the field.

One of the Young Germans, really-plz.

I've been saying all summer that I'd love Parker to join us. He is the perfect role model for our young players and he wouldn't cost alot. We need some signings to lift the gloom over the team and to pick us up. I'd take all the above mentioned players. Let's all hope that we do actually sign some of them.

Or Hitzlsperger, but he's just gone to Wolfsburg :(

Wenger interview was on Sky Sports just now. I know he's gotten a little bit strange as time has gone on but you have to admire the strength of the man. You can believe him and what he's doing or not but publicly he puts on such a brave and stoic face. Inside he must feel like being sick every single day.

WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING TO OUR CLUB.

Ask again in about a week. I'm sure we'll have a much better idea of whether this really is as bad as some of us fear on the first of September.

In truth though, I have tickets for the Swansea game, and I'm not sure that by the first of September I'm going to be in much of a mood to go. I hate saying it, but, as our players (good, bad or indifferent) leave and get injured en masse, and exciting transfer targets are mooted but never (look likely to) arrive, I'm feeling the enthusiasm gradually seep away...

It's only a game*. I'm a rational(ish), (sort of) intelligent person, and I know that. I'm sure I don't feel as invested as I was as a kid, either. This is all still disheartening though. I actually feel sorry for Wenger, too. I'm sure this isn't all on him, even if his policies and principles perhaps haven't helped us in getting where we are now.

I wish I had a positive note to end on, but I'm struggling here. Everything I come up with seems like a consolation rather than a positive at the moment.

* Or a business. Or both. You know what I mean, though.

I think, most of all, I'm dissapointed in the sale of Nasri, more so than I was with Fabregas. With Cesc we had years to prepare for him going (both as a club and as fans) and whilst the fans seemed to have achieved the latter the club seemed to pin its hopes on a player who may have seen us as a stepping stone to "greater" things before he'd even left his previous club. Now we have neither Cesc or Samir and no one to fill their void that can make an immediate impact.

Don't get me wrong, Wilshere and Ramsey appear to be the future (with maybe Frimpong behind them), but they're not right now, they're still learning and they need someone who's been there and won things to lead them.

Eh, not really. I really don't think Samba is that great, sorry. I mean I'd take him over no one, but he leaves me feeling very 'meh'. Cahill's better but I'm not sure either suits that well.

I'd be happy with a left-back, a centre-back, an attacking midfielder/playmaker, and a striker. A holding midfielder would be a bonus.

Parker is £8m & £75k a week.

Sorry but that's inasne for someone who's pretty old, has no resale value whatsoever, and is probably going to be quite injury prone, given the amount of cortisone West Ham were pumping into him last season so he could play on despite being basically crippled.

Also he's pretty shit on the ball and we need a DM with good passing.

I don't think Nasri is your man there then, seeing as he's won the sum total of fuck all.

£25m for Nasri in the last year of his contract is hilarious. Just think, by the time we play United we could be in the Champion's League and lining up with Eden Hazard in the team.

Right?

Right?

I don't think Parker is anything like the answer. He's just a signing for the sake of a signing, he won't really improve the team beyond adding numbers to it. In fairness, we need numbers, but still.
