And there's still another training session to go, yet.

So you have loads of players out injured and quite a small squad to begin with. So what do you do? Why you loan another player out of course.

What the fucking fuck is going on? Please, someone tell me.

maybe wenger is about to announce 10 new signings?

Yeah, he'll have signings coming in cos otherwise it's absolutely incredibly ridiculous.

I'm relaxed cos by my reckoning there's no other course of action but to buy some good players and I have to trust that this is happening. Also, I'm relaxed cos it's all been so heartbreakingly depressing this summer that part of me doesn't much give a fuck what happens next. That's just today though, come KO on Saturday I'll be there with a beer.

This is actually quite an incredible situation that can only be down to one of two explanations...

1, AW has actually lost the plot and this will only end when someone at the club notices our swelling bank balance together with all the empty parking spaces in the players car park.

2, AW has a super duper plan and will shock the world by spending at least £60 million on 5 players in 12 days.

I've got a feeling that Wenger is taking the buck for the club's own financial situation. I still feel that there must be a lot of repayment to be made for the stadium.

I really get the feeling that this is what is going on. We were told there was a something like a 30 million war chest at the start of the summer before any sales, but I think that the board are including players wages in that total. So Wenger takes the heat when we don't sign 30 million's worth of players every year, when there was probably only the money to sign one or two players at a modest price. That might also explain why players contracts aren't getting renewed earlier.

Having said all that if Bendtner and Nasri go, along with the other sales there should be enough money to bring in 2-3 quality players.

I know! But at least he didn't say anything ridiculous like QPR play a similar quality of football to Bolton!!!

Who said that? We can play much better football than Bolton. We just didn't last Saturday. We'll see how it's going in a few weeks. I can't wait for you little poom pooms to come to Loftus Road.

I think it's difficult to keep pushing the 'we have no money' argument when we just spent £12 million on a 17 year old.

And that the accounts are open for all to see.

We've got money to spend on players. We're just not spending it. And this year getting rid of everyone.

Yeah, I'm not sure about that personally. The rigour and prework the Club did before moving to the Emirates was incredible as far as I know. If we're utterly fucked financially this long after moving then something is wrong. They'd have known the projected figures in advance and surely there's been no absolutely mental unforeseen problem or miscalculation. Our ticket prices are ridiculous, the stadium is always sold out, match day revenue is enormous, we've made money through property sales and tons through players sales so to think that we're in a position where we can't afford players does not make sense to me. I know market prices are high but still, we should be able to buy really good players or what the fuck was the point?

My personal view is that someone is lining up a pay day somehow.

I've been to Loftus Road, I don't think many Arsenal fans will be waiting with baited breath to get there mate. Incidentally it was to see New Zealand vs Australia in the tri nations. Both those sides would probably beat your first team at football.

You're probably right, I just can't understand why we would be haggling over a few million quid for players like Jagielka if there's (seemingly) a lot of money to be spent. The only reason I can think of is that they money just isn't there.

It's difficult to be sure, isn't it? I think things are being deliberately misrepresented and like I say, I think there's money in it for people. When the Club is debt free and up for sale properly it will look extremely attractive.

I can't imagine why Wenger would stay on if he's being forced to gut a squad he's assembled for the sake of making loads of money for someone. Being a self styled football philosopher, it can't have escaped his notice that our squad just isn't very good. Why would he go into a season with only one left back, one deep lying midfielder, a couple of strikers and every player in the squad a walking injury time bomb? I just cannot see what shackling himself with such a monumental amount of pressure would achieve, either for the club or him personally. As things stand with the squad at the moment Wenger won't last until November. He surely won't put himself in that position.

I've also wondered if it could be his last season. Give it one last go with what he's got and worked with for so long. Maybe that's why he was apparently willing to keep Nasri on. And also, if a new guy came in he'd want a big kitty for his own players so spending big now would possibly be a waste of money.

Big guesses though, to be honest.

But how long can we keep waiting and hoping that we will make these "Big" signings? it has been a long old summer and in my opinion the worst as we have lost so many players and only bought Gervinho. Our squad is paper thin, the transfer window shuts in a couple of weeks, the season has started and we have nothing. If arsenal were really in for the sort of players that have been linked they would have signed them by now or at least put in a bid. We haven't bid for Dann or Cahill or Samba, we haven't even been linked with any holding midfielders, we never bid for a left back even though Enrique went to liverpool for 6mil?! The whole focus of the summer has just been selling players!! I'm very happy we signed Gervinho but as things stand i'm not happy at all with Chamberlain, 12mil on a 17yr old who only has league one experience is terrible considering all the other positions that need to be strengthened with established players. I'm just very worried for the club and the way things are going and am not looking forward to sat :(

It all feels like doom and gloom but IMHO rightly so. I really can't believe that any fans are happy right now. Even if signings are made it's all a bit late. United, as an easy example, did their trading and have hit the ground running. Any new players we sign will be playing catch up and if we start with one point from nine - which could happen - it's an absolute disaster. Nothing is won or lost this early but there's no sense making it hard for yourself.

I've figured it out. Arsene has to shift half the squad in 30 days to inherit 100million to spend on new players, but he's not allowed to tell anyone

but after thirty days you're not allowed to own any assets. No houses, no cars, no jewelry. Nothing but the clothes on your back! Now, you can hire anybody you want, but you have to get value for their services. You can donate five players to charity and you can gamble another five players away, but you can't give the players away, and that includes buying some bimbo as a left-back.

It's interesting to see David Dein chiming in again, essentially warning Arsenal fans to back off or Wenger could walk. I wish he'd fuck off frankly. His input ended the second he sold his shares so what it has to do with him is anyone's guess. Also interesting is why he's decided to do two interviews in as many weeks after keeping quiet for so long.
