I disagree, keepers denied him on every occasion tonight.

His goal was well taken, but apart from that shot at the end he was constantly giving the ball away or getting it tangled in his legs, Gervinho looked ok but his shooting was poor. Looked like they were rushing it constantly.

EDIT - I will say the back line look a lot more solid in the second half, Udinese didn't really look like scoring.

Phew. That was lucky. Have to say, that I thought Gervinho was playing rubbish. Lots of runs but bad decisions on the end of them.

Of course, that was until he did that run at the end, where Walcott nearly scored, so I think I'm happy with him now. So he CAN make good decisions.

Injuries again, eh? FFS.

I agree there was maybe an element of both players rushing things, both probably feel they have a point to prove really. Walcott's not really cemented a starting spot because of his injury problems whilst Gervinho's new and is going to be missing the next 3 domestic games so probably trying to make up for that.

We're not that great though really, are we. :(

No, pretty rubbish really. Chamakh is abysmal, what the fuck are we doing letting Bendtner go but keeping that cock? I know those Tevez stories were rubbish but imagine if we had someone up front who could actually run about a bit!

We were really poor but got a result, which is the most important thing I suppose. Ramsey displayed a great range of passing and he acts as a fantastic engine room, but unless we change our system he's going to fall short of Fabregas. I think it will come, but at the moment he can't dictate play in the way we need to control teams. Song again came up short for me too. Unless he gets some discipline from somewhere he's as good as useless in the position he's supposed to playing in.

Does Chamakh even warrant a mention? He looks about as much of a footballer as I do. That he's our second and only other choice of striker keeps me up nights. One of the reasons we were so flat was that ge offered no outlet at all. It's time to cast his sorry arse into the sun.

It's come to a point now where I have no idea whatsoever what kind of back four we'll have against Liverpool. If Wenger trots out the dog eared script of needing 'super talents' or 'better than we have' signings I'm throwing myself under a bus. Any players will do now. Absolutely any players who will agree to play for us.

Well, it wasn't a disaster. Ramsey was frequently great, Jenkinson looked like he was shitting himself constantly but did well, Walcott was er...consistent. Gervinho looks good. Gibbs might have been sympathy removed, he wasn't doing great. Or maybe just to give Vermaelen a chance to play on the left (which his 9 minutes doing so sort of spoiled).

Koscielny was a disaster, but thankfully for him at least Chamakh was on the pitch to make sure he wasn't the worst player. Probably the most invisible performance by a striker I've ever seen. I have no idea what we have done to him, but he is looking worse and worse.

Absolutely any players who will agree to play for us is literally better than we have. Our first team is, what, six players now after injuries? Are we even allowed to play players from the under-12s team in the Premier League? Because we can't be far from needing to.

How many gods do I need to pray to to make Wenger realise that selling Bendtner is the dumbest thing anyone's ever done?

Well done lads! A lot of heart shown tonight :)

Yeah I guess this is the thing. Obviously Cesc and Nasri are yet to be replaced, Wilshere and Van Persie were missing, some players were out of sorts, and we had some defensive injuries that probably impacted planned attacking changes.

It's worrying to look at that performance and see how bare the squad is, but on the flip side we did just beat a good side while being a long way off our best, and kept another clean sheet. So I guess that's what you've gotta take from it.

Koscielny was a disaster,

Really. I don't remember him doing too much wrong.

One thing that struck me is what a high line we held. I know we usually do but it was dangerously high last night. Song gave the ball away just in their half, the guy knocked it in front of him and was through. Luckily the keeper saved and made a good save in the second half as the most important thing was to keep a clean sheet.

We also done our famous "give the ball away at our corner and nearly concede" trick. Song again I think.

Ultimately though it's a win, another clean sheet and if we score first over there they will be really up against it. Plus RvP is back.

Nor me. I think Gibbs started OK too. Ramsey is clearly a special talent but his lack of top level football is evident sometimes. I think his long passing game is better than his short one right now but overall he continues to impress. He's the kind of player you really need to watch to understand how much there is to his game.

One thing that struck me is what a high line we held.

It's ridiculous, we really do have no shape whatsoever. There seems to be no concept of cover or plugging gaps, this mob need it drilled into them IMO.

If you are going to play a high line, you need some very quick centre backs and while Kos and and TV are reasonably quick they got left for dead a few times. And equally important you must try to cut down on the number of times you give the ball away in the middle of the park, especially if you have men forward. Song i'm looking at you and your even-more-ridiculous-than-last-year-hair.

To play devil's advocate, Barca play a higher line than us and their centre backs are slower than ours.

Of course they don't concede possession cheaply like we do though. :P

You don't remember him giving away an utterly, utterly, utterly stupid freekick in the 91st minute that if delivered well (rather than a stupid shot from Di Natale) could have given them an away goal from nothing?

He did a fair few things wrong, disappearing, getting turned...But that was mind-blowingly terrible.
