You can't really claim you're being shafted considering Song escaped a clear-cut sending off.

It probably balances out, but getting decisions wrong for both teams isn't really the best way of refereeing a football match.

Udinese next then, guys. How utterly fucked are we?

And Gervinho misses United and Liverpool. Fucking hell. This could barely be worse.

Where the hell is that giant lol smiley?

Gervinho's a twat for raising his hands like that. Complete bell end.

At least that performance will be a good demonstration to Wenger of the various areas that he should pretend are fine and to not bother strengthening.

Kind of weird how the centre-back partnership was pretty much the only part of the Arsenal side to come out of the game looking good. It's like I'm in bizarro-world.

Song should have been sent off and i agree with that. But the fact that barton got away with grappling Gervinho like he did was bullshit. Last season Barton and Nolan got away with the same aggressive treatment of our players. It would be nice if after a game a Ref's decisions either way aren't brought into discussion.

It's a real shame that we now lose Gervinho for the Liverpool and Man utd games but he will have to learn from this. All in all a point isn't a bad result, we played alrighht and looked quite solid as a unit but just lacked creativity.

The scary thing is bar Wilshere, this is our starting eleven.

It wasn't that bad really, it was just a bit 61% possession 1 shot on target*. Ie. Arsenal-when-they're-not-rampant. I've no idea what the answer is, but at least I can take solace from the fact Wenger clearly doesn't either.

*First half stats.

Newcastle didn't attack much though they pretty much sat back for the whole game and played like the away side. It's not a bad result at all. It's always hard at the start of the season as players aren't into the full swing of things yet. we will get better.

Didn't think we looked too bad considering Jack wasn't in the side. Thought we looked much better defensively than at the end of last season when we were shipping goals. Gibbs looks pretty good, better than Clichy going forward that's for sure. His final ball is a bit rusty but I hope that gets better with more games. Rosicky didn't look bad given the amount of games he's played, but we definitely missed Cesc in the final third. Not been impressed with Fringpong from what little I've seen of him though.

I think it's a bit early to be passing judgment on Frimpong! Jeez.

Anyway yeah Kos and Vermaelen should be a very good partnership. Let's hope Djourou can regain some form and we can sign someone else to make sure Squillaci's time on the pitch is kept to a minimum.

Bu if Song is out suspended or injured or at the ANC (all going to happen let's face it) is he the first choice backup? He just doesn't look ready.

Incredibly frustrating match especially as it felt like "more of the same" coming from last season but I thought we played pretty well given that it was out first game back and we were missing Fabregas, Nasri and Wilshire. We dominated for the vast majority of the game and it was only rustiness that stopped us really creating stuff in the final third. It was also harrowing that we bit yet again after Barton's windup tactics - last time it was Diaby, this time Gervinho. It's odd that people only mention his tackles and his temper, because he's a cunt of a diver too - absolute pro at getting free kicks and cards for nothing.

Defensively I thought the centrebacks were good (I certainly don't remember Vermaelen having such a range of passing on him - pity about Koscielny's though), I thought Gibbs was excellent and Sagna was as good as he always is. I was really surprised to see someone slate Song because, unforgiveable stamp aside, I thought he was pretty dominant throughout and avoided doing most of the thing he has recently become prone to doing that fuck me off like misplacing passes, losing possession and leaving gaps by getting forward unnecessarily. Ramsey was excellent - it was great to see him going shoulder to shoulder with the Newcastle player and come off best.

Rosicky played pretty well, but really it just served to remind me of how good Fabregas is in that position. It's his economy on the ball that we'll miss the most I think - so little was wasted, no fat around the meat at all. Rosicky got harried off the ball a few times in situations where Fabregas would have already played the pass and moved.

Gervinho looked really exciting even if he hasn't quite clicked with RVP yet which, given it's his first game for the club, I think we can forgive - big loss to not have him for the next three games.

RVP looked really rusty and had he been in better form, I'm certain we'd have got something from the game.

Arshavin looked like he was a bit more up for it which was nice.

Don't know what was up with Walcott - he looked really leggy and some of the balls he played were just atrocious. Didn't look a footballer at all - hopefully he'll sort himself because now we have started collecting wingers his place is far from guaranteed.

Still ruined my Saturday obviously, but you know, that's how it goes.

Oh and Gervinho was my Fantasy Football captain just as an additional petty cruelty.
