Yeah, I've said the same. I just think he's getting harder and harder to listen to or read. They say that you lose footballers eventually when they've heard it all before time and again. Well, he's in danger of losing the fans cos this young team business is trotted out all the time. Maybe this is all a massive smokescreen but he sounds like a bit of a crank sometimes. I do believe we'll make at least one very good signing, I'd like to think we'll make three.

I don't think he truly believes the squad is a-ok, otherwise he wouldn't have bid for Mata or Jagielka. In the same conference he said he expects Cesc and Nasri to stay. It's all just waffle that shouldn't be taken seriously. I know if you take it at face value it's immensely frustrating, but it shouldn't be taken at face value.

At the end of the day he's got product to sell and wants the best price, so he's not going to come out and say he's desperate to get shot of it. And similarly if he's working on stuff behind the scenes, on the quiet, as it should be, then he's not going to admit to that either.

Unless you genuinely think he's gone insane then I think we should take that with a huge heap of salt. Then it ain't so bad.

Eboue not having a number pretty much means he's off as well. So this week looks like we've lost Cesc, Bendy, Nasri, Eboue and replaced with a few youngsters. I said to myself after the Emirates cup game i won't be investing any money into away games and many of the home games this season if we don't sign decent replacements, Wenger's gotta have this figured out surely. I expect Mata & Cahill to come in at least, but maybe some last minute out of nowhere deals again (Diarra, Gallas etc)

The injection of attacking pace is welcome, with AOC, Ryo and Campbell. Gervinho is no slouch either.

I don't think Jadson alone would be enough to fill the Cesc-Nasri void in midfield and offer a pick-me-up to the fans, so hopefully we will spend big on another player there to raise everyone's spirits (Mata being the obvious candidate, even if he's not really like-for-like with either departing player).

Out: Fabregas, Nasri, Bendtner, Eboue, Clichy, Almunia

In: Chamberlain, Campbell, Jenkinson, Jadson, Mata, Gervinho, centre back

That'd be alright, no? Left-back would be the only worry, but I suspect Verm will be asked to play there at times. Whether he'd be any good I don't know, probably not as his positioning is shit and he's not the quickest.

Wenger;

No Juan Mata deal

Jadson is nowhere near

You'll get a centre back

There would be no deal, he said, for Juan Mata, the Valencia winger. And Jadson, Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian midfielder? "We are nowhere near doing that." But would he be introducing a new centre-back before the closing of the transfer window? "Yes, because Vermaelen played only five games last year."

Is it just me, or with Chamberlain, Miyachi, Gervinho, Walcott we've got some fucken pace up front and out wide? Could this be a potential strategy for getting behind defensive teams?

Had 10 pints tonight, so I'm filled with some unwarranted optimism. I have to be optimistic about Arsenal, because they're all I've got. I can't handle the All Blacks choking this RWC again.

If a team is defensive, pace wouldn't get through them because they'd be defending deep. We had one of the slowest defences in the league against you lot at the Emirates and it was the width, not the pace that hurt us. We couldn't deal with the crosses but there was no one in the box so it was all a bit futile.

You'll have a better chance away though.

You're right. We've got some serious pace up top and it's about time too. With the three new wingers you've mentioned above, we've got wide players who can beat a man one on one now, which is so crucial for breaking down teams that sit deep. I'm excited about the game today to see if any of them feature (besides Gervinho who is a cert).

I'll say it again, there's no way Arsene will tell anyone if he's close to making a signing. No way.

He is surely not going to sell Cesc and Nasri and not bring in at least one midfielder.

I agree, he's not that much of a nutter and wouldn't be surprised if he has a signing right around the corner.

We just need a tall forward now, one that'll be in the box ready to get on the end of crosses.

A blonde Danish one.

EDIT: I just took a screenshot of the table from the BBC, since Arsenal are top of the league! Have saved it in case it never happens again.
