Arsenal

One thing I am sure of now is that this is a club in decline. Two of our best players left out of the squad for the first day of the season, almost certain to leave. Manager comes out in his Friday press conference and says nobody is leaving. I don't expect him to come out and say we are doomed but a bit of honesty and decisiveness goes a long way. Give Nasri a deadline of 30 July to sign a new deal or sell him and also give Barca a deadline of 30 July to match our price for Cesc or deal is off for this summer. If they go, buy replacements. If not, they stay and work hard to earn their fucking astronomical wages.

This halfway are-they-going-or-not helps nobody and is about to damage our start to the season. £1000 for this shambles. What a waste.

It probably helps someone. Trying to buy a player when the other team knows you've got £60m and are desperate is different to trying to buy a player when the other team thinks you're broke and are paying all you can.

Of course, this would suggest that we're buying players... [giant lol smiley]

I'm sure the squad know exactly where Cesc and Nasri are with regards transfer negotiations so it won't affect them too much, they're probably not distracted by thoughts of "will they stay or will they go"

Yeah, I think he must be playing it safe. I bet deals are more or less done for both players and we're negotiating for replacements.

Be careful what you wish for:

Excellent.

This pretty much sums up my feelings on the whole sorry matter: http://www.arsenalreport.com/news/arsenal-bends-over-to-take-it-up-the-arse/

Arsenal bends over to take it up the arse

It took years of public tapping up and a constant stream of embarrassing bids, but today Barcelona finally got their man, for the price they wanted to pay.

Wenger recently claimed a transfer should make all three parties happy – player, selling club and buying club – but in this case, Barcelona and Fabregas are the big winners, while Arsenal are left with a ridiculous up front fee (believed to be £31m) for one of the best midfielders in the world.

Barcelona will no doubt be extremely satisfied with the transfer, while the Arsenal board should be ashamed of themselves for betraying the club and its supporters by accepting such a ridiculous and insulting offer.

However, we thank Fabregas for his service as an Arsenal player, and wish him well in the future.

We've been fucked over but I'm glad it's finally over. We all knew it was going to happen and now the team can move forward. The importance of a good start to the season is huge because I have a feeling the fans will be waiting for the first opportuniy to jump on to the managers back.

£31m up front doesn't mean there isn't a few more million in it down the line.

But yeah, I'm glad he's gone. He's no Adebayor, but I'm struggling to see him as anything more than an ungrateful little shit who captained Arsenal to no trophies.

I'm not trying to make everyone cry but next summer Theo & RVP will have 1 year left on their contracts.

Also, Gervinho will wear number 27. This was Eboue's number.

According to Arsenal.com Eboue has not got a number. Maybe he's left and nobody's been told as in the current climate that would have just been too much to handle.

Personally I feel we let him down by surrounding one of the best midfielders in the world with players who just weren't up to the job (with the exception of his first couple of years when he was breaking through.)

I read that, I'm sure they both signed deals recently didn't they? If it's true then RvP will go, I think only a miracle would keep him here beyond his current deal and I can't see any miracles around the corner. With Theo it depends on whether he reaches his potential and also I'd suspect that he might be a bit more loyal (stupid).

Who says football fans are fickle?

Me, being fickle in the past. Search is limited to 200 results, but aside from when I was arguing with QPRetard t'other day I don't think I've ever said much nice about Fabregas. I won't deny he's a very good player, and will certainly have said that, but I've never really liked him beyond that. I'd not have considered getting his name on a shirt if I did that - he'd be way down the list. Bendtner, Wilshere, Ramsey, RVP and Vermaelen would be miles above him. Also Cana.

2. Wilshere has done a massive amount to fill that gap. As would Ramsey without being injured...I don't think Fabregas going to Barce would be a massive disaster. He annoys me a bit now to be honest.

5. As in 2., I won't miss Fabregas much. I don't know who I'd give it to though. (Well, I'd give it to Bendtner but y'know).

Since Wilshere is pretty much first choice for every single position on the pitch in my mind, he's the only one that would be heart-breaking. I think following Fabregas on twitter and then reading all his tweets in a sarcastic voice. Especially the strong squads of Man City and Man Utd the other day. Spit.

EDIT: And Chesney a bit on the heart-break list.

August edit: I was totally incomprehensible here. What it should have said is "Since following Fabregas on twitter I've been finding I read all his tweets in a very sarcastic tone - especially the ones about the strong squads of Man City and Man Utd the other day."

Getting young players with loads of potential and then developing some into classy players is more or less the most stupid plan ever if you then lose those ones and only get new long-term deals on slightly rubbish, or ambition-free, or injury laden, ones when they get to the end of their contracts.

I mean, a large part of me thinks that Nasri is being a dick - but if someone offered me (or I knew for certain I could get) a job at a more successful company doing the same role but for more money... I'm not likely to turn it down. If a player who has genuinely come through from being a 12 year old who has supported Arsenal for life does it then it is gutting but the only reason we have Fabregas and Nasri (and pretty much everyone in the first 11) is because we offered them a better job for more money than they were on. If a player has left a team to join Arsenal, it's not exactly a surprise to find they're willing to move clubs.

About Fabregas being named in the a team of best players this generation

And thus, no trophies were won.

real offering £45mil for Cesc, my arse!

I would accept that without thinking twice.

But yeah, fickle.

And the Frenchman was also adamant he was in no hurry to bring new players in.

"Do we want to buy? I don't know because at the moment we have too big a squad, we have too many players," he added.

Yeah, just not enough good ones.

He said: "We feel we were very close last year and that we can improve from what we achieved last year. We will be in there, don't worry.

"Why? Because we are a young team and a young team can only get better."

We've had six years of this.
