The UEFA Cup will do us good right? Right?

EDIT: hang about-do we even drop into that if we lose this qualifying round?

Yes. Fuck going to football on a Thursday to watch the fucking Europa League. Fuck it right in the ear.

That's a really tough draw, especially without Van Persie, Walcott, Nasri and probably Fabregas.

It is a really tough draw, especially with those players missing. I'm tempted to say if we lose to them we may aswell not bother going through as it is only going to get tougher but we need that Champions League money so it will be a disaster if we go out. Shit draw.

According to OptaJoe Fabregas has made the most assists in the top five European leagues over the last five seasons with 54, 1 ahead of Daniel Alves

He's also created more goal scoring opportunities than anyone else in Europe in the last 5 years.

But he's got nothing on Modric, obviously.

He's also creates chances more often than any other player in the top 5 leagues. You can basically expect him to present an opportunity for a team mate every 25 minutes.

Udinese serves us right. All our own doing.

As if buying players (yeah right) wasn't complicated enough as it is, what do we do now?

Buy now?

After/If we qualify?

Or not all as this is what we were going to do anyway?

I wish there was someone at the club with big enough bollocks to say to AW

'well done cunt, get us out of this mess you got us into and into the CL proper or you can fuck off'

I see Bartley has gone to Rangers for the season. I was expecting AW to add him to the squad and then tell everyone 'there's your new signing'

He looks alright but not the addition at CB we need now. Surely surely he's not gonna loan him out and not add a CB.

Either everything is in hand and the only people panicking are the fans, or this transfer window plus now this very tricky CL qualification is about to be the biggest disaster AW/Arsenal have ever had.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis will meet Barcelona officials on Friday over the future of Cesc Fabregas.

BBC Sport has learned that the Gunners are yet to receive a second bid beyond the £27m Barca offered last month.

I've said this before, but £27m is beyond a joke. What on earth do they think they're up to? It's incredible, this can't be true.

We shouldn't even be meeting them if that's the offer on the table. We should only meet them once there is a reasonable offer on the table - say £35 mill?

How much did they pay for that Sanchez dude? £40 mill wasn't it?

They're just taking the absolute piss.

Edit:I'm not saying we accept 35 by the way, it's just a reasonable starting point.

Wenger's doing right sticking by his guns here. It doesn't matter how badly Cesc wants to join Barca, we're in the driving seat. We've got him tied down to a long term contract and if they don't want to pay what he's worth, then he stays. I don't really have much sympathy for Cesc when he's our highest earner and supposedly a captain to this team.

Plus he walked out on Barca in the first place. I mean, he's given us great service but he's under contract, paid trillions and we need to get every possible penny for him. This ballpark £40m figure that we'd accept still isn't enough really. If we let him go for that it should be considered a favour.

Two games (technically).

Lets hope Vermaelen plays as well as he did against Celtic last time we were in this situation!

Which reminds me, do they still have extra officials standing behind the goals?

Tough draw but we have enough to beat them regardless. We put ourselves in this tricky position because of how rubbish we were for the last few months. I'm just hoping that over the summer the players have got that zip back and hopefully with a fresh and fit vermaelen and Ramsey we will qualify.

“I can understand the impatience of people.”

And will that patience be rewarded soon? Are Arsenal close to a new signing?

“No, not at the moment,” Wenger replied.

Has owt happened with Miyaichi yet? The season starts in a week, shouldn't we know either way about his work permit by now?

Been turned down and will be in Holland again next year according to some Dutch Gooners earlier. Makes sense-why give him a work permit, from a purely logical point of a view? A shame, as he's looked shit hot when I've seen him.

This from the Mirror via the BBC..

Samir Nasri last night moved a step closer to the exit door at Arsenal following an apparent row with Arsene Wenger.

The winger was left brooding at home on Friday as the club travelled to Portugal for a weekend friendly against Benfica.

Manchester City are waiting to swoop with a £22million bid for Nasri after a clash between him and Wenger on the club’s flight back from a pre-season tour of Asia last week.

Relations between the pair, as a result, are said to be at an all-time low.

And with City ready to make a move, Nasri’s time at Arsenal could finally be coming to an end before the transfer window closes.

The French winger will only be allowed to leave, however, once Wenger ties up a deal for Valencia midfielder Juan Mata.

Yeah, the Mirror. But it would be welcome news IMO. I can't believe we'd really hang on to him and let him leave for free next year and the more I think about it I hope he goes. Of course, we would need to get in a replacement of equal quality, Mata being a prospect I think we'd all be excited about.

Didn't want Nasri to leave at all at first, especially to City, but I'm fed up with the whole thing now. We should sell him to the highest bidder and hopefully replace him with Mata.

£22 mill or so for a player with only 1 year left on his contract is too good to turn down.

He is a good player, but really he's just had half a good season. Other than that he's been pretty average, definately replaceable.
