Optimism, Baz, I like it!

I wouldn't be too confident about today's game myself. Blackburn have a pretty good home record this season and we seem to be winding down our season by getting shitter and shitter.

I can see a draw on the cards.

God Blackburn are a bunch of cheating cunts. Watching them never fails to remind me how much I loathe Fat Sam.

Talking of which I posted this in the football thread the other day - made me lol once or twice..

And as I type this Fabianski gets dominated in the area once again.. fuck it.

As an opposing manager, Arsene Wenger came out and criticised what we did. You just smile and say: 'I've managed to outwit you again. My tactics have been better on the day than yours have. I've managed to achieve a result against what has been one of the top sides in the Premier League for a long time.' If it's good enough for Inter Milan against Barcelona then it's good enough for me.

lololololo we iz shit lolololololol

This made me laugh and cry...

Robin van Persie heads a long ball across goal but Eduardo fails to anticipate it. In fact, he's looking the other way. Strange.

Pathetic. Wenger stormed off down the tunnel - looks pissed off and I'm not surprised.

Defence is a shambles to be honest. Traore's so clumsy, he's gotta go. So has Vela. Obviously Silvestre. Fabianski aint no keeper and I'm gonna say it right now that I hope Walcott goes to the World Cup, has a stormer, and someone comes in with a 10-15m bid because IMO he simply hasn't got the ability to make it. To be honest I don't think he's even a top 6 premiership starter, or ever will be. Diaby also depresses me and I'm starting to worry that Nasri hasn't got what it takes despite his ability..

All my fingers are crossed for Ramsey's full recovery and return to the side for next season and I'd like to see Wilshere back too. Along with 3-4 top class additions to the 1st XI.. anything less just won't be enough I don't think.

I didn't realise just how close Spurs are to you guys. If you lose your final game and Spurs win their remaining two, they'll go above you.

SPURS ABOVE ARSENAL! :)

If Wenger doesn't buy another defensive midfielder this summer then he's a fucking moron. When Song is out we have a ridiculously soft centre and it'll cost us time and time again if it's not taken care of as a matter of urgency. Mahamadou Diarra, Felipe Melo, Senna, Rodwell, N'znonzi, I really don't give a shit at this point, because Diaby is literally incapable of playing that role, and Eastmond is clearly not going to be up to it any time soon.

It would also allow us to do this from time to time:

--------------------Someone...Anyone---------------------

Sagna--------Vermaelen-----Subotic!(yeah right)-Clichy

-----------------Song---------BigHardBstd-----------------

-----Nasri---------------Fabregas-----------Arshavin-----

----------------------RVP/Chamakh-----------------------

Fuck that looks almost...solid.

Jesus, I like the look of that.

I don't think we should stop plying 4 3 3 but we badly need a back up\plan b type shit for our tough away games and the like. A 4 5 1 like what we used to do in away champions league ties.

Also lovling these "Wenger fails to shake fat wallrus cunt's hand" stories when he did shake the fuck's hand.

They need a plan B and that needs to be the plan A. This shit's clearly not working against any team with the slightest clue how to defend against it, which happens to be nearly all of them in the year 2010. I swear they've probably managed about three clear cut chances in the last five games. For a team that we're told has so much attacking flair, they should be better at fucking attacking. Games where they can't break down a defence should be exceptions, not the standard.

Or is it really just because Fabregas isn't there?

See, that's it. No fucking heart. No fucking workrate. That's what's been fucking us up for a long time now (along with a few fuck ups, like almunia ad co).

I think the 4 3 3 works great when the players fucking work and the front three put pressure on the opposing back four. Like mad pressure. A fucking proper work rate. It worked real well at the start of the season and then we just stopped and became lasy for some reason. I'm sure I linked to a gunnerblog piece about this at some stage.

We've lost two fewer games then liverpool. Just two.

I support Arsenal and always will but at the moment they are playing the type of football I really hate to watch. Soft, aimless passing around with no defence to speak of that collapses at the first sign of pressure. It's like a kids team playing a mans team.

Yeah, I think the 4-3-3 should still be the 'default' formation, but we need a bit more nous and adaptability in certain fixtures. For instance the above formation can easily evolve from the standard 4-3-3, mostly by just pushing Fabregas forward and asking the two defensive midfielders to screen the back four. Obviously this 4-2-3-1 formation has been in vogue for a couple of years now and offers very good defensive solidity if you have two decent holding midfielders. It is the setup of choice for Brazil (Gilberto & Melo), Holland (De Jong & Van Bommel), and Liverpool 08/09 (Masch & Alonso), amongst others.

Similarly, it can also easily adapt into this if required:

------------------------------1----------------------------

----------------------------????---------------------------

---3---------------5---------------------6-----------22--

Sagna-------Vermaelen------------????-------Clichy

-----------------------------17----------------------------

---------------------------Song---------------------------

-----------18----------------4----------------8-----------

----------????----------Fabregas--------Nasri---------

------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------23----------------

----------------11/25-------------Arshavin--------------

---------RVP/Chamakh----------------------------------

This allows even more midfield solidity, in theory, although it is obviously potentially a bit narrow. Arshavin could shine however in the 'Bergkamp' #10 role that he normally plays for Russia.

All these hinge on the acquisition of a good DM though. Hopefully Wenger has spotted the painfully obvious soft spine we have when Song is missing. He's tried Diaby there lately but the guy makes Gerrard seem positionally disciplined, and he just goes wandering off.

I think that if we do go for someone, I can't see it being a big bucks buy like Felipe Melo, Jeremy Toulalan or Jack Rodwell. It's surely more likely to be either someone older on a short-term basis (Mahamadou Diarra on loan, or Marcos Senna on the cheap), or someone younger, and less well-known (Steven N'zonzi or Etienne Capoue).

For the inevitable centre back signing, Neven Subotic of Borussia Dortmund would be my first choice, mostly because he's quite massive and he speaks fluent English. There's going to be a lot of clubs after him this summer though and he's likely to cost £15m. Failing that, I'd be totally happy with any of Simon Kjaer, Mamadou Sakho or Christian Zapata, who would all probably be a bit cheaper than Subotic. Hell, there's loads of good centre backs out there and we quite obviously need one even if Gallas stays for another year, so I'm not too worried about this position.

I really hope this is actually the new kit, it looks fucking amazing! Nailed on purchase - think it would be the first home shirt I've had since 1996...

Mate of mine who works at EA has had the new kit in his hands and says it looks very similar to this.

:):D:(:D:):omg: :OMG: :omg:
