At current exchange rates that sounds about right.

"Arsene we found some dollars in these shorts we wore on holiday to Disneyland last year. Do what you can."

:)

Force of habit - no pound sign on my US keyboard unfortunately!

I have learned that one of the biggest shareholders in Arsenal Football Club has put her stake on the market, a move that will effectively kick off a fresh battle for control of the Premier League side.

Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith has hired bankers at Blackstone to find a buyer for her roughly-16 per cent stake, which has been owned by her and her family for many years.

I don't really see us signing a keeper sadly, i still stand by what i said a few weeks back which is i'd throw fabianski in and give him a good run of 10 or so games to really see what he can do as one game every now and then isn't good enough. I see Chamakh comin and a CB (not sure who though) but sadly only one CB, wenger won't spend alot and he'll try and blood more youngsters in. The main thing is as everyone is saying is that we keep the squad together.

Cruise and Bartley are the hopes there, aren't they? Bartley is doing pretty well at Sheffield United, I believe. I know he's been playing regularly, at least.

Likely squad for next year:

GK - Fabianski, Almunia, Mannone

RB - Sagna, Eboue

CB - Vermaelan, Gallas (J. Boateng if he leaves), Djourou, Campbell (can we get one more year out of him as fourth choice? I'm sure we'll try seeing as it's a cheap option!)

LB - Clichy, Gibbs, Traore

DM - Song, ???

CM - Fabregas, Denilson, Rosicky, Diaby, Nasri, Ramsey (Merida out. Wilshere on loan)

LW - Arshavin, Vela

CF - Chamakh, Bendtner, Eduardo

RW - Van Persie, Walcott

Semi-realistic wish list squad for next year:

GK - Neuer, Almunia, Mannone (Fabianski out for a couple of million)

RB - Sagna, Eboue

CB - Vermaelen, Mexes, J. Boateng, Djourou

LB - Clichy, Gibbs, Traore (wouldn't mind letting Clichy go tbh if Madrid or whoever offer £15m+)

DM - Song, Marcos Senna

CM - Fabregas, Denilson, Rosicky, Diaby, Nasri, Ramsey (could lose one of Diaby and Denilson quite happily if someone put in a decent offer. Wilshere on loan again)

LW - Arshavin, Hazard (sell Vela for a few million)

CF - Chamakh, Bendtner, Eduardo (it pains me to say it because I like him a lot, but if someone offers £8m+ for Eduardo we should take it IMO -- he's just not going to get the extended run he needs to get back into the groove, and we have plenty of attackers more suited to 4-3-3)

RW - Van Persie, Walcott

Van-Persie on the right wing?

Presumably Chamakh is going to be first choice centre forward if he comes in. RVP is surely too good to bench, so where else is he gonna go? He's not the quickest but I'm pretty sure he can play wide in a front three just fine. He often plays wide-ish in Holland's three behind a centre forward.

I think they'll all have to play the games Wenger fancies them for and given our injury record they'll all get a run. I hope he mixes up the formation a bit too cos we got caught well out at times this season with 4-3-3. Games we might have gotten something from if we'd had a structured 4-4-2.

RvP is in the squad.

Oh yeah totally, I mean loads of players in the squad are interchangeable between the midfield and forward positions, which is definitely a good thing.

Interesting Kroenke developments with his NFL franchise. Yesterday was the deadline to decide if he wanted to accept the $300m bid for his 40% in the St Louis Rams. It was widely felt that he would accept the bid but instead he launched a counter bid for the whole of the St Louis Rams.

It was felt that he would sell up as you cannot hold a controlling stake in an NFL team if you already own a baseball, basketball or ice hockey team in a rival NFL market. He does. So unless he intends to sell his other interests it seems he is planning to challenge the NFL's rules.

In short, a full bid for Arsenal from Kroenke probably got a bit more remote as he will be busy in the US for a while and will also need every penny (cent ) he can get his hands on.

I genuinley cannot see us buying a keeper. The problem with all these wishlists is that they're like Football ManGer shopping lists and as we all know that's not how Wenger works. I wouldn't expect to see anyone but the freebie striker coming in with the squad thinned out to compensate for his huge signing on fee and wages. Senderos and Gallas the likely candidates. I'd be flabergasted if we went big on anyone.

Predictions form the Telegraph this morning were this

1st Chelsea 87 PTS

2nd Man Utd 83 PTS

3rd Arsenal 83 PTS

I make it

1st Chelsea 87 PTS (draw away to Liverpool, win everything else)

2nd Arsenal 84 PTS (draw away to Blackburn, win everything else including an optimistic win over Man City!)

3rd Man Utd 82 PTS (lose away to Man City, win everything else)

Villa have just signed Stuart Taylor.

Real look like they have sewn up the signing of Robinho.

Juve have admitted their interested in Vieira.

Alialdiere is going to Celtic.

Robin Van Persie is looking fucked.

It's mainly looking like doom and gloom at the moment, it can't all be bad surely? Please cheer me up with wild transfer speculation, and telling me Wenger will sort this mess out.

My my, how things done changed in five years. Aliadiere and Taylor are doing fuck all, Robinho's on the run in Brazil from a rape charge returned home with his tail between his legs and Vieira is at Man City in a ceremonial capacity.

Robin's still never available for selection though!

Eh, don't think anyone is seriously suggesting we're going to bring in more than 2-3 players tbh. Probably only 1-2, plus a few minor departures. If you're saying Gallas is going then at the very least he'd need to be replaced, so Wenger can't do as you say and only get Chamakh in.

But when Djourou comes back he will be like a new signing!

Might be a good partner for Tommy V for a few seasons if he wasn't made of glass.

Yeah that's fine, but then even if you replace Gallas with Djourou and hope his legs won't destroy themselves again, you still don't have any backup. I don't think even Wenger is stupid/stubborn enough to try and go another full season with Campbell and Silvestre as the only reserve centre backs.

edit: ok so he probably is actually :x
