As stated I hear it's a leg break and ankle problem. Could be up to 12 months to heal! You'll need another CM.

This is a pretty bad April Fool, with the bit about "combined healing time = 12 months". Because his ankle wouldn't start healing until his body had sorted the shin out first, is that the theory? :(

It really seems like Arshavin was having trouble with his fitness and/or carrying an injury the past few games. I know he doesn't track back as much as some but the things he can do when he's running at players are amazing. Cesc and Gallas also seemed like they weren't anywhere close to 100% fit.

The game next week should be interesting. From last night it really seemed that players like like Denilson and Nasri, who kept getting in Barcelona's face did pretty well. Diaby was s%$t though, lost count of the number of times he lost the ball.

Formation for the second leg is a tough one...but I think I'd go with a crazily innovative 4-4-2. Eboue on the right, Rosicky on the left with Bendtner and Walcott up front. Denilson and Nasri in the middle (Song in defence).

We would really benefit from having a striker against each of their defenders since they might not be entirely perfect.

With such keen observational skills, you really should work for ITV!

All I wanted last night was for us not to get thumped as we have in so many of our recent "big" games. It didn't look good after an hour but you have to give the boys a huge amount of credit for the way they battled back. It would have been very easy to crumble.

The atmosphere was great before the game but everyone was stunned by the opening 20 minutes. The fans didn't know whether to applaud or cry as Barca tore us apart in the first half. A couple of Arsenal fans near me were arguing in the first half. One shouted out "this is rubbish" and the guy behind him said "no it's bloody not mate" and they then had a bit of a bitch at each other. <_<

Still as I said credit to Barca for an amazing display of attacking football and a huge pat on the back to our players for keeping just a glimmer of hope alive. Surely Barca can't play that well again?

Also, oddly enough, it may be to our benefit if those players who weren't 100% fit are out of the next game. Don't get me wrong I would love a 100% fit Cesc but I think you need to be able to work hard against Barca and a 100% fit Denilson is more likely to be able to run his socks off as he did last night than a half fit Cesc or Arshavin.

Denilson did well I thought. You're right, we need players giving their all cos you know Barca will.

I dunno his ankle is fine AFAIK. Did you think it wasn't? <_<

I meant more before they all got injured, I wondered if we were being overrun because 3 of our players weren't anywhere near fitness.

I thought that. Cesc was nowhere near fit and the ease with which Arshavin and Gallas went off suggests they probably weren't either. It's hard enough playing Barca with 11 fit players never mind carrying knocks all over the pitch.

I don't doubt that we will face another huge test over there but i'm pleased we have given ourselves just a tiny chance of progressing.

I knew what you meant - hence the wink.

And you're right, clearly. Gallas didn't look too bad, but that might have been because Song was covering him pretty thoroughly. If he wasn't there, Gallas' injury might have shown more.

Fuckity fuck.

Chelsea must be loving this, Rooney out for a few weeks and now Fab out for the season.

To be honest, I really have a hell of a lot of belief in Nasri to take over his role for the rest of the season.

Absolutely amazing scenes, the game yesterday, these injuries, all amazing stuff.

I hope this doesn't kill us and we still somehow get something from this season. Like in the old days when Adams went to jail or when the FA deducted two points from us and we still went on to win the league. (was that in the same season?) We need to somehow dig deep and find something to carry us a little bit further.

Being realistic though, all these injuries, the way Barca played in the 1st half, especially the 1st 20 minutes or so, and the two away goals they have, going to the Nou Camp and the games against the scum and Man City seem pretty scary at the moment. But you just never know in football. Like someone once said, it's a funny old game. Stranger things have happened. How great would it be if we somehow got through against Barca, somehow managed to win the league maybe.

Going back to last night, in the 1st half we saw what AW sees in Almunia but in the 2nd we saw why most of the fans think he's got to go.

Surely Nasri will play in Cesc's role and it would be nice if Song and Diaby make up the 3 in midfield but I've got a feeling that AW will use Song at CB and Denilson in midfield, especially in the 2nd leg. Maybe Campbell will play at CB in a couple of the league games. Maybe not against the scum or Citeh.

Up front we've got a few options I suppose, even without Arshavin. Bendtner with Rosicky and maybe Eboue? with Walcott available off the bench? We've still got Eduardo or Vela who could slot in somewhere maybe.

All in all it makes the next few games pretty exciting, I only hope we don't crumble and fade away. It would be a real shame if that happens as we're somehow still in the title race with a few games to go and the two goals we got back last night, when at one point it looked like it could be an embarrassing score, mean the tie is still alive. OK, it's a long shot but the two goals mean we do still have a little bit of chance.

Edit: AW

William Gallas and Andrey Arshavin have been ruled out for at least three weeks.
In addition to the serious casualties, Gael Clichy (back) and Denilson (groin) could miss Saturday's game against Wolves with short-term injuries.
"William had a recurrence of his calf strain. That is at least three weeks. The next one is Arshavin - calf strain, three weeks.

"Gael Clichy is struggling with a back problem. He might need a breather as well. I don't know yet, we will assess that tomorrow. Denilson has a groin problem, we will assess that too.

Walking home through Dublin in the pissing rain and I see we're drawing nil all and I think to myself, "fuck it, it was coming". The thought of us keeping up in the title race seemed a wee bit too optmistic with all the injurys we now have.

That was ten minutes ago. I just got home now to find out big Nick scored four minutes into injury time. I am grinning like a loon right now.

:eyebrows:

How many goals have we scored in the last five or ten minutes now? Something crazy like 18, is it? I don't know but my heart can't take too many more.

A few things: That was really horrible to watch. Eduardo is finished at this level sadly. Tony Gale is a cock - so far tonight had massive manc fans Martin Tyler (& his monkey) in the early game then this ex hammer c*nt telling us every 5 seconds how shit Theo is "hot & cold, hot & cold" then defending K Henry when he got sent off. Silvestre and Sagna's delivery was consistently awful and the team improved so much when Nasri came on. Personally I think Wolves were there for the taking - Wenger should've started with Bendtner, Nasri and Eboue at RB and gone for the kill from the kickoff. Could've hauled off a couple of players at half time and boosted the goal difference, and I might've been able to some way enjoy the game instead of just feeling progressively more sick up until the 94th minute..

Anyway to summarise.. get in there Bendtner you legend.
