True, I'll grant you that.

Still didn't know how to adjust to The Theo coming on though.

Maybe because he was on the opposite side. Walcott was up against Maxwell.

Amazing match tonight and great spirit from Arsenal. Hurrah for football!

Oh dears. BBC reporting Cesc has a broken leg?

Edit: Ha. Now its changed to he 'fears' he may have broken something.

He's gone for an x-ray. I guess people tend to have those if their leg is broken.

His isn't though, clearly.

Gallas however, is fucked. Out for the season apparently and my money is on that being his last game for us too.

Alves was definitely pulled over on that side during the last 20 minutes.

Although after this many beers, they all look the same. Probably explain why I thought Lewis Hamilton scored our 1st.

what a game! It took Walcott coming on and scoring for us to realize that Barcelona were actually beatable. Could easily have been 3-2 in the end. We didn't seem to tackle them up to that point, it was if we thought they were supermen or something. They were very good at times, but we can do it at the Nou Camp if we play like we did the last 20 mins for the whole game.

Eh, guardian is reporting "Cesc fears he may be out of the world cup".

I don't understand this. If he's got bad bruising below his knee, that's surely not something you can aggravate. It's just superficial, painful damage. I'm certainly no doctor, but I don't see how it would make him more succeptible to more serious injury.

If it is somehow true that he's out for that long, missing the world cup is shitty for him. Missing our run in is really shitty for us.

I would still be surprised if he was badly hurt though.

Clichy kept Messi quiet, I thought. Also, Puyol knew exactly what he was doing, watch in real-time. Right decision.

but because of his defensive duties he couldn't get speedy down the left much (to feed bendtner for example) :(

It's being reported that Fabregas cracked his fibula when winning the penalty and then the strain associated smashed up his ankle.

Conservative estimates this morning make the combined healing time something like 12 months...which means he misses next season too.

Stress fracture?

Amazing that Arsenal are still in the tie after that first half. I'm delighted though and with the suspensions for the second leg you could yet pull it off. Shame you'll be missing a few yourself of course. Cesc & Arshavin especially.

Messi wasn't on the right, he was in the centre. Clichy wasn't responsible for him at all - he spent much more time watching Alves. Until Gallas went off, Song was entirely responsible for keeping him quiet.

Because Alves was on the right. For the entire match...

For sure. Theo and Eboue to start in 2nd leg. Alves is amazing going forward but he's well suspect with guys charging at him.

Messi drifted infield, for sure - but unless I was really drunk last night I'm sure he and Clichy had a number of one one ones which Clichy seemed to have the better of.

Not as many as Messi and Song had, that is for sure - and he didn't drift infield, he started directly behind Ibrahimovic and stayed there all game...

I'm surprised at all the hate on Arshavin - he's not scored too many but I've seen him take the ball around 2/3 defenders and then square it across for somebody else plenty of times. He can be a bit greedy at times, but I suspect that this is what he was brought in for. This reminds me of the dissing Berbatov gets.

Well, they're both lazy, fair weather players. When things are going your way it's fine. When you're getting the runaround and you need to do your bollocks for the team they might as well sit it out cos they can be passengers.

Reading my google translated El Mundo. Guardiola believes it was Barcas best performance in Europe under him - I'd agree, I've watched them in La Liga this season and thought they played unbelievably well, especially considering it was away.

Over on Marca they had an interview with Wenger. On the subject of Puyols red:

To the question: "Did it seem hard penalty?" Responded: "socks".

Maybe lost something in the translation.

Yeah, cos he can't get in the team :(

As stated I hear it's a leg break and ankle problem. Could be up to 12 months to heal! You'll need another CM.
