Theres been a lot of talk about maturity with the Arsenal team, but if you look at the difference between how they reacted after the Eduardo incident and Ramsay, you can see a big difference. Despite the tragic leg break, Arsenal will take a lot of confidence from this win and will probably kick on.

I was just making this point as well-so very true. The Birmingham game destroyed our season last time, this could drive us on.

Those goals were for Aaron; very emotional celebrations. If they play with him in mind, I imagine it will give them extra drive for sure.

Eduardo has never been the same since he's been back. He was always so lethal now he can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo. He's lost his confidence.

Yeah, you recover but you might lose some speed, or a mental edge. Ramsey is a developing talent though, and is ahead of where he needs to be at 19, in terms of technical ability and understanding of the game. I imagine he will still fulfill his potential upon returning. Obviously it's a terrible setback for him, and a horrific event. He's probably so doped up right now that he won't remember the incident, thankfully.

Can't believe that the same thing has happened again, but it was good to see the team win this time also to see Cesc pull them in for a group hug at the end. I really hope Ramsey's injury isn't career ending, it is a terrible blow for him and the team. Hopefully it will have the reserve effect of Eduardo's injury and inspire us to win the title.

You look at players like Eduardo and Anderson who have had broken legs, and they seem to have lost something to their game. However I don't think you can really draw conclusions from the past with things like this, and only hope that Ramsey can make a full recovery.

I think the problem for Arsenal is that managers may tell their players to get phyiscal with them, which unfortunately sometimes ends with incidents like this.

At least Ramsey shouldn't have the added problems that Eduardo had with the break being at the ankle. This looked higher up the shin and is hopefully a clean break.

Edit: oh, guess I was wrong? ^^^^^^

edit 2: no I'm not, that's clearly not his ankle, it's halfway up his shin

Worst one of it occurring: http://i48.tinypic.com/2rz7uid.jpg

Don't click if squeamish. Looks awful - hope it's not a complicated break and he makes a speedy recovery.

Fucking hell, looks terrible no matter what angle I see it.

He's young, aren't breaks meant to heal better if you are young? My granddad (aged 86) broke his ankle the other week getting off a bus. He's going to be in hospital for at least another month because at his age it takes much longer to heal. Ramsey has his age in his favour and will get simply the best medical care available, so that's something mildly positive to cling on to.

Davies is being a prick. Shawcross goes in hard but it looked to me like he went to boot the ball and booted Ramsey instead. No question of intent, unlike Taylor's 'reducer'.

It looks like any other 50/50 challenge you get in every game, you see worse challenges every week. Ramsey and Shawcross were both unlucky.

I don't see the point of the argument. Theres no reason why Shawcross would want to do that to Ramsays leg. We just have to accept that in football, sometimes peoples legs get broken. Its not surprising considering its a sport that heavily involves grown mens legs clashing. Its gonna happen.

Obviously theres stuff like Roy Keane's leg breaker on Alf-Inge Haaland. But Roy Keane is a fucking weirdo psycho and clearly had intent.

Nobody goes out there to break someone's leg, but people do go out there to play a "physical" game which ups the chance of it happening a massive amount.

Not saying that's what happened today, but certainly in Eduardo's case.

He's got his age in his favour, definitely. But also, he's a preposterously good - and the most impressive thing about him is how intelligent he is. He strikes the ball brilliantly, but the thing that makes him stand out from the rest of the young 'uns is how intelligent he is on the field. He could decide to go off and run a pub for 10 years and he'd come back as a better footballer than most people would ever be.

It's going to take a really, really, really messy break to stop him being an amazing footballer.

And imho, Shawcross was cack-handed.

It looked a clean break, a fucking horrible one but clean at least, and away from his ankle and knee. In a weird turn of events Shawcross has been named in the England squad just now. Deserved I think, he's been excellent this season, he's been in my Fantasy Prem team for most of it and has been brilliant. It was a badly timed tackle but I really don't think he meant it, his head must be spinning at the moment.

How can you tell that?

Shawcross does deserve a call up for England though as you say, he has been brilliant. This obviously wasn't on purpose, and I hope he can get over it too.

Well I can't, it just looked like a clean snap rather than Eduardo's which was right near his ankle and looked complicated right away. I dunno just the way they came together it didn't look as bad to me, hopefully not anyway.

Wenger's comments about the incident are out of order, especially considering he had time to mull it over. This is surely not an Eduardo situation, where the guy had gone in to 'let him know he's in a game'. Nor was the tackle as late or nasty as the one on Diaby. He might have a point that teams sometimes try and rough Arsenal up, but this was surely not such a case.

Yeah plus the Fabregas extra protection comments. He obviously forgot about his tackle at the end.

I know its not the best thread to say it in but Wenger is an idiot. A great manager but an imbecile when someone shoves a mic in his face.

He was seemingly suggesting Shawcross did it on purpose under the instructions of Tony Pulis to rough up the Arsenal. Its ridiculous as there is no great conspiracy. Other teams don't go out there trying to break Arsenal players legs on purpose and they need special protection from refs to combat it.
