I think Arsene just likes to brag that he 'discovered someone first.'

If his scouting network is so good, how come he didn't pick up Smalling the first time round? He can hardly have discovered a player signed to and playing regularly for another PL club.

Without jumping the gun, this looks like the start of the same old same old for us.

Crash out of a cup with a poor team, lose momentum, United and Chelsea on the up. Looking at the United/City match tonight. The managers, the teams and the fans, what it meant to them. Makes me sick. Probably no transfer business either. It's a fucking wing and prayer as usual.

We won't win anything this season, I'm down about it right now.

Right, predictions. I’m going for 9 points out of 12, it’ll be tough but it’s definitely possible. 10/12 would be amazing.

Villa (A) - Win

Man Utd (H) - Win

Chelsea (A) – Lose (I hate picking Arsenal to lose but Chelsea are too good)

Liverpool (H) - Win

Not the start we needed. A point away at Villa would normally be a decent result but we really needed a win.

Eduardo is out of Sunday at least and if Vermaelen has broken his leg as is feared we won't see him again this season.

:) :) season.

We've got Big Sol back, so it's all good: Sol and Gallas will be the purrfect partnership to batter down and stiffle Rooney on Sunday.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR SUNDAY!!!

BRING ON THOSE FILTHY MANXS!!! (I know sean already made that joke but I like it)

Really, Sunday should be fun. With the way they're playing at the moment, we can beat them but with the health of our centre backs in serious question and Rooney being literally on fire it could also be horrible.

Which he wasn't.

I don't know how many appearances/starts he has made or how many minutes he had played, but signing Smalling would have been in no way a "discovery".

Very disappointing result tonight. As has already been said, too much momentum lost by pissing away the cup game.

There was no fucking momentum anyway. Arsenal were largely shit in both games against Bolton and managed to scrape wins, and have been playing that way for weeks but getting results against inferior opposition.
