Or we could have lost it, lost Vermaelen and Arshavin to injury for a month each, and fucked up every competition at once. Who knows?

To be honest, I'm with Wenger here, I don't give a shit about the FA Cup anymore. Winning trophies for the sake of winning trophies, well, if you'd be happy with that let's hope Arse get relegated, the Johnstone's Paint trophy should be easy enough to win. YAY. TROPHY.

I'd rather have the league, or the Champion's League. I'd rather come second in the league by a point having been competitive and consistent all season than win the fucking Carling Cup.

So you think if we lose two players we're out of every competition? And you don't see any problem with that? That's exactly the same as Liverpool are going through - they've dived because they lost two players, stupid people are blaming it on an injury crisis and sensible people are blaming it on a lack of squad depth.

The FA Cup is a proper trophy, if we haven't got a good enough squad to win it we haven't got a good enough squad to win anything else. We will get injuries elsewhere now we've dropped out of it.

While there's a lot of truth in that, it's not completely true is it? Exceptional players aren't that common so any team is going to be affected when their most important players get injured. It just isn't possible to replace players like Fabregas or Torres; there is a big element of luck in who gets injured and these things don't necessarily balance out at all, they can make the difference between a title winning season or not.

I think the point is they're replacing a 10/10 player with a 4/10 player, rather than an 8/10 player. It's never going to be as good as with the first team in, but minimising the difference between first choice and second choice is the skill to making a strong squad. If we had 8/10s as back-ups we wouldn't have gone out yesterday.

Plus we risked Fabregas yesterday anyway.

Plus we played JE-T and Coquelin out of position. Our squad is so thin. The ACN didn't just creep on us unannounced and our injuries are a perennial problem. Year after year of refusing to spend any money is really costing us. We've got great potential backed up by nothing. Is everyone at the Club stupid?

I read earlier that Mannone has signed a new deal. I've written off Almunia and Fabianski too after yesterday. Time to give Vito a run :) . I'm staggered that they're the goalkeeping options at Arsenal Football Club.

I was so worried about Cesc during that game.

I still can't get over how shit Walcott was :)

A boring 4-4-2 with Walcott and Thomas up front could actually have worked pretty well I think. It's how I'd have played them. If Walcott can't run, he's useless and he was getting no space at all on the wing.

As I said earlier, I don't know why Thomas came off to be replaced by some more midgets. At least he gave us an option - Vela, Eduardo, Arshavin & Cesc against their defence was like watching a parent shepparding some kids away from the cookie jar.

He's always crap, I've been saying it for the last two seasons. He can't beat players, he can't cross, he's scared to shoot and there's never an end product to anything. If the opposing left-back shows a bit of muscle then Theo is out the game. I'd have shoved Rosicky out wide right, at least he looks threatening.

When Theo is a sub and comes off the bench at home games, the crowd get so excited. I don't get it, or him. I'd like to say lets give him time, but how much more time does he need? He doesn't look like he has anything special to offer, so I don't see the point of him. The only time Theo can cause any sort of damage is when he has absolutely nothing in front of him, and I do mean nothing.

He has the potential to be a nippy poacher (Owen, Defoe etc.) and nothing more. Wenger has tried to turn him in to a more rounded footballer but it's just not working. He's got nothing to his game except a bit of pace. I wouldn't be suprised to see him leave in the summer.

Ah, but the likes of Owen, Defoe, Rooney & Fowler are born poachers. You can't teach them what they have, it's natural.

We bought Walcott as he had an awful lot of potential at 16, but he's just one of dozens who are not as special as people thought they would be. I hate to say it, but I think he'd struggle against Championship fullbacks & defences. He just doesn't have anything about him that makes me think he can make it in the Premier League, never mind at Arsenal.

I'm struggling to see what has changed since the team's 3-0 home loss to Chelsea.

The ‘glass half full’ version is to believe the team is invigorated from the form in the league, Fabregas is on fire, the team has grit and taken itself to another level.

However the ‘glass half empty’ version doesn’t go away. That nagging feeling that the only thing that's changed is what has happened around Arsenal:

- Post Chelsea the quality of the league opposition Arsenal has played has been poor.

- Chelsea and Man Utd having a dip in form.

Which means eventually poor defending, the loss of Van Persie (and no alternatives), inconsistent form of important squad players (Vela, Walcott, Almunia, Arshavin?) and a lack of power will see the team appear clueless again when playing quality opposition.

Quality opposition means Villa & Liverpool (on their day), Chelsea & Man Utd.

Can Fabregas drag us 'Gerrard of old' style through all those fixtures?

I fucking hope so but I can't deny the doubts.
