He's off, apparently. Five year deal with Athletico. I'd rather he stayed but he's not exactly next in line for a starting position. He hasn't exactly grabbed his chances, IMO.

Sounds pretty likely. Not going to break my heart, given the players ahead of him, he would have had to step up pretty massively to make an impact on the first team.

I think he's been allowed to go a bit early - he's not even turned 20 yet and he did pretty well when he was out on loan. He should have gone to a championship club this season and decisions made based on that.

His agent no doubt had a large hand in the move. In a perfect world I would have kept him, because he has had some good games for the reserves/carling cup side at Arsenal and played well for the Spain U-21s in the competition just gone. However it's not going to kill us to lose him, and I'm sure we'll bag a couple of mio in compensation.

According to wikipedia we paid £3.2m for him.

Great business all round.

I'd imgine a lot of players are feeling the sting.

I forgot to change my captain so I had Lampard this week. Would have been great but I was planning on putting Nasri in his place and not Arshavin like just about everyone else.

Anyway, enough of that. I really would have liked to get this game in hand out of the way. A win would have really put some pressure on Chelsea.

This, and this again and again. We've played pretty much the whole season a game in hand, no? That might fuck with us psychologically.

Same at Man City and it's a little annoying isn't it. Now the rearranged cup game with United means we've had to bump our game at Stoke in the league aswell. So we may be two games behind after that.

I can see what you're saying, and there's a few ways it can be looked at, but I feel an actuall win would put a fair bit more pressure on them then a presumed victory.

Anyway, it is what is now. Let's just hope the ACoN really fuck Chelsea up something special...and, um, Man Utd also fuck up a good bit in the new year.

THE OPTIMISM TRAIN WILL NOT BE DERAILED!!!

...not just yet, anyway.

1115 GMT:Arsenal may be ready to sell midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Real Madrid - if they get Argentine star Gonzalo Higuain in return. (Spanish newspaper Marca)

Obviously the source isn't even remotely reliable, but I dunno, interesting...

Also, I had a dream last night that Samir Nasri signed for Chelsea. That was shit.

Marca and the other one seem to have a random transfer gossip generator where the only constant appears to be the name "Fabregas".

It's nonsense. Sure, intresting nonsense but nonsesne all the same.

Also, that sounds like a fucking horrible dream.

Pretty poor first half. Got lucky with the goal, too.

There's been times when no one in midfield wants the ball. At one stage all three centre mid players moved away from the ball allowing Everton to just steal the thing with ease. And it hasn't just been the mid field, either. Diaby and Sagna did something similar at the edge of Everton's box.

Acting like that is fucking suicide when you play a possession\passing game.

Shame he seems to be having one of those games where he drops in for a short while and drops out for an age. Hopefully he can pop in with a few screamers in the second half.

Traore is giving me teh heart attacks though. He seems to be a one man welcoming comity for Donovan and making his life very easy down the right.
