What a load of slash :D

It doesn't even make any sense. It's like the fella had half an idea, shoehorned it into some words and then realised it was utter tosh and then tried to make it plausible. Hence why it reads like it's in two halves, the second a weird backtrack/justification piece.

I read most of it through my fingers though: it's so horrendously wrong in it's conjecture and even worse in the actual execution. It reminded me of the Guardian piece on Rafa's first 200 games in charge compared to other managers: meaningless, misguided and mostly absolute bollocks.

Kroenke has hit 29.9%...

Although the goal posts (heh) seem have shifted; depending where you read about the story and possible take-over, he actually needs 29.99% or 30% to have to make an offer.

Although if he wants the club, he'd do better to wait to buy in May when the share price offer will revert to a cheaper price that he paid recently.

Statattack:

Arsenal are now 20 league games unbeaten against Spurs.

Arsenal have now gone a full decade without losing to Spurs in the league (last Spurs win was in November 1999)

Arsene Wenger has never lost a home game to Spurs.

Arsene Wenger has now won 1000 points for Arsenal. To put that into perspective, only Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have more than 1000 points in the division. The next highest point scorers are Aston Villa on 956.

Tottenham's last win away at Arsenal was in the first Premier League season, 1992/93.

Amazing to think the junior Totts have gone all though school without being able to crow in the playground.

For the record, the last home league defeat to them arose from Arsenal fielding a seriously weakened side before the imminent FA cup final v the Owls.

Oh look at us, we're Arsenal fans, we have amazing players and are in good form and our youth-team is mind-bogglingly excellent. Bleh bleh bleh, we have a nice new stadium and our manager isn't under huge pressure and we're virtually qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League. We have Nasri and Arshavin and other sextacular midfielders who play champagne football for fun. We have Fran Merida in our god damn reserves because we have too many amazing midfielders. Rosicky only has half a leg and it doesn't even matter because we have so many silky attackers Bleh bleh bleeeeh.

You all make me sick.

Erm, better anonymise this.

Erm, This is..

Anne Fields.

Yeah, that should do it.

He'll be on 30 this time next week I bet. He's clearly decided that he's going for it.

I'm not so sure. I reckon his intention was to get as many shares as he could without having to launch a full bid. If his intention was to buy the club now why buy small bits and pieces. Why not just offer for the whole club? I think he will stick here for a while before launching a full bid in the next year or two. Unless he thinks the club is undervalued and plans to make a full bid above the £8,500 a share he is currently buying shares for. 100 of the shares he bought today were from Peter Hill-Wood. Strange.

Of course by the time I get to work tomorrow i'm sure he will have launched a full bid and the above will look stupid.

I hope he's not in it just to make a quick buck.

If he launches a takeover bid and the Russian decides he wants it too, maybe the Yank could/would then sell his shares to the Russian, make a huge profit and then bugger off back to the USA.

He might just be in it for the money and force the Russians hand by making a takeover bid.

Edit: thanks mr fox.

Then again, Kroenke might really want to buy the club, or he might just stick at 29.99%.

Much rather the talk was about how good we're playing lately................actually it could work in our favour. If everyone talks about takeovers & stuff no one will notice how good we are and we can then creep up and win the EPL and CL without anyone seeing us coming.

maybe.......maybe..............maybe.....lots of maybes

Wouldn't he fail the 'fit and proper owner' thing if he tried to do that now?

It's what the Glazers did.

Kroenke won't, that's why he's been allowed in with open arms.

But yeah, if he got to 30%, he'd have to make a takeover bid. He bought his last load of shares at 8.5k. Trading rules state that he would have to offer the takeover price at the highest he's paid in the last 12 months which is 10.5k. In May 2010, the price comes down to 8.5k.

It would be my guess that Hill-Wood has agreed to let Krokite make the offer and sold him some shares to keep him right where he needs to be, but for the sake of keeping things tidy and stable and to allow Kronkite to save millions, the takeover will happen in May next year, after we've won the Treble.

Saw it reported somewhere that he hasn't paid for a lot of the recent purchases yet. In any case he doesn't have the cash for a full takeover. The actual cash would be supplied by banks, leveraged either against Arsenal, his other businesses or the Denver Nuggets.

I just popped in here to make the same post, only in less (and less funny) words:

It must be great to be an Arsenal fan right now. :)

Yeah we're not getting ahead of ourselves. I don't think many of us think we'll win the league, that's for sure. It's nice to be in decent form, but we haven't exactly had tough fixtures, and as the West Ham game showed, there are still defensive issues and problems killing off a game.

Our vulnerability at the back is worrying, I still think we need a stronger midfielder than Song next to Fabregas.

Really though, they are just gripes at the moment. Plenty of goals, great football again. Let's enjoy it while it lasts.
