Arsenal

They pretty much sat the entire team behind the ball and defended, determined to stop us scoring

Good to see that patience and persistence paid off in the end

Song is improving and his forward passing was connecting well.

Diaby is still redundant and Van Persie pretty much made the wrong decision on everything he did!

Arshavin was great and Eduardo did help change the game. Vela as well made a nice mark in the final minutes of the game

Gotta give it to the Olympiacos supporters - they were very vocal the whole time even when losing

Diaby's going to do a Song and become amazing. Mark my words.

Surely jokes should be posted in the jokes thread.

Hope you're right but can't see it myself.

Not sure if Song has become amazing either, but at least he keeps improving and keeps putting pretty good performances in.

As for Diaby

I think a lot of the trouble with Diaby is that the period where he should have been improving and developing his football brain through playing matches was right at the time he broke his leg. He has never been the same player since and I think it has really damaged his development.

If you arent practising something for a solid year you have to work 10 times harder to get back to the level you were at let alone improve

Arsene Wenger becomes the longest-serving manager in Arsenal's history today.

The Frenchman has won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups since arriving at Highbury 13 years ago.

He was a virtual unknown in mainstream football when he took over in 1996, but has gone on to become a legendary figure at the London club.

Sounds all believable enough. I think Wenger does have a point about young English kids, but I'm sure he's not stubborn enough to see Wilshere fall by the wayside. Hopefully. The Vieira thing is surely bullshit though. It's not like he was a massive deal and would have cost a lot, so it made no sense to stall a deal for that reason. Players don't tend to go to secret medicals too. Someone in the press would have known and why wouldn't they sing like a canary? Daft. The Adebayor one is obvious.

The Fabregas story is pretty clear too. The world and its wife thought we'd spend some money on some experience over the summer and were suitably disappointed when we didn't. Why wouldn't he be?

Nasri and Fabianski to return to full training during the international break.

It will be fantastic to get Nasri back. He is far less profligate in possession than a number of the midfield options we have had to resort to recently and I don't think there is anyone in the squad at the moment who will take on defenders at pace in the deeper role I expect to see him playing in (I said "pace" Diaby, pace). I think teams expect Arsenal to try to pass round them five-a-side stylee and at times setting up two tight banks of four in front of goal can nullify our ability to create real scoring chances in the final third but as we saw from Nasri last season when he played in a more central role, a penetrating run down through the middle from fairly deep can tear teams apart as defenders are dragged of position and forced to backtrack.

I am really fucking optimistic about Arsenal at the moment especially with the nice run of fixtures we've got ahead of us.

Can't wait for Fat Sam's angry, red face tomorrow when we drub his shin-kickers 5 - 0 at the Grove.
