Hermmm.

Here's a cheeky question (make that 2); decided that I couldn't justify the £60 train ticket to today's game, but apparently every seat at The Grove has a free scarf.

1. Is it the same scarf as was in the members pack this year?

2. If not, does anyone want to 'sell' me theirs?

Where was Diaby playing today?

I think it was:

--Eduardo------RVP------Simples--

-----Cesc----------------Diaby------

---------------Denilson--------------

Gibbs--Vermaelen--Gallas--Eboue

Although the front three and midfield three flitted about a fair bit.

At least there is someone out there who isn't too scared to point out the so bloody obvious to AW.

"We shouldn't set Everton as a benchmark, we should be looking at the top teams of Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona.

"We should buy first-class players, regardless of their age. We should buy the ones who should improve our game.

"The top teams have much bigger squads than ours and that is why we have to buy."

What's Dennis Bergkamp up to these days?

He's at Ajax at the moment, getting coaching training and helping with their strikers. He also spent some time at, I think, Holland B where he did some more coaching courses as well as some stuff with AW on some fast-track scheme. He'd still get into most starting XIs in Dutch football too.

He also has a house in London and a box at the Emirates which apparently he uses alot of the time.

Why aren't our strikers getting any goals?

Another good result though. Portsmouth were pretty poor, but it's nice to beat these teams emphatically.

I read that Gallas originally trained as a striker at that French Football school him and TH14 went to.

Yeah, only 11 so far this year. In 10 games. 1 goal from a striker in 2 premier league games too. The fact other positions have scored 9 makes that look small, but it's really nothing to worry about.

I couldn't give a stuff if we 'score' 100 goals this year all via own goals, so long as we win the league.

Goals is goals, Gallas' nipples or RvP's left foot.

While I too don't care where the goals are coming from either, should the goals from midfield and Gallas' face dry up and the forwards are still misfiring it could be cause for concern.

I'd imagine RVP, Arshavin, Ed and co. will start banging them in soon though. It's nice, though, that while they're warming up everyone else is stepping up and scoring goals.

Oh yeah - I don't mean to sound like an arse - 10 goals in two PL games is pretty good going by anyone's standard. But we're playing with a pretty decent forward three yet it's Diaby that gets the brace. Weird, more than anything.

That is the aim of our 4-3-3 though really, to blur the lines of who is playing where. Technically it makes Fabregas and Diaby second strikers. Kind of.

Arsenals new 4-3-3 has been a long time coming, i never understood why we didn't do this sooner as it always seemed in theory that it would get the best out of our players. It's nice to see arsenal playing with freedom and with a smile, things are looking up. But i seriously hope that wenger goes out and signs another defensive midfielder as that's where we are really short on numbers. arsenal are obviously trying to save some money by going to the wire which is frustrating but i dunno why i'm suprised as this is the norm. It will be interesting to see where nasri and rosicky fit into this system when they are back and fit. Personally i'd like to see nasri with fabregas pulling the strings but you never know with wenger.

It'll be like a new signing. Rosicky will just straight-replace Diaby, I think? Nasri may alternate with Van Persie, although there was something about him becoming a DM wasn't there?

4-3-3, or some form of it, is definitely the answer though. It's how I play them in FM if nothing else...

While I'm sure we're all suitably embarrassed by the whole “penalty” incident and let's call it what it was, a fucking disgusting shame inducing dive, we still should be very happy with the performance over the two legs.

Diaby looked really good tonight I thought. Nice and strong on the ball. Gallas continues to be awesome. Eboue took his goal well, too. And Arshavin making it look simples, as always. Props to Denilson also, this could be a very good season for him. So long as we don't have to over play him again.

15 goals in 4 games ain't too shabby at all, neither.

Man Utd at the weekend will be a real test of this team and their credentials. I'm looking forward to it but I'm still going to be nervy as fuck come quarter past five on Saturday.

if I was eduardo I'd have owned up to it, or accidentally put the spot-kick into row-Z
