Sky are reporting that Man City are in talks with Arsenal about Adebayor.

I'm guessing most of you would be quite happy about that...

TALKS:

Man City: "He's a dick isn't he?"

Arsenal: "Yeah"

Would prefer him to leave the prem as the week-ruining possibility of him scoring against us is not one I like to consider.

Got to hope we would get a good price for him from Man City. Seems strange that we gave Milan a flat no then let him talk to Man City.

A bidding war would be nice if Milan reignited their interest.

This Blaise Matuidi stuff isn't going away and the more you think about it it's got Wenger written all over it.

Matuidi is just 22 years of age, and won’t turn 23 until long into next season. He is of African descent (his parents are Angolan), and has spent his formative years in France’s Ligue 1 (first with Troyes, and latterly Saint-Etienne). What he lacks in height (he is just 5′ 9″) he makes up for in athleticism. His acceleration to loose balls is a noted strength, and his left-footed passing would provide a neat compliment to our existing options in central midfield.

Whilst Melo was certainly comparable to former Arsenal man Gilberto Silva, Matuidi appears to have far more in common with Lassana Diarra. Like Diarra before him, he is a France U-21 International and is soon expected to graduate to the senior set-up.

Sounds like he will eventually turn into a good player but is he what we really need now? Not exactly.

We're not that far off from stepping up a level or so but we really do need an experienced player who can come straight in next to Cesc, not another prospect that should make it.

So 25 million for Adebayor. From the papers today it seems like it's going to happen. Hope the money is invested in another striker and a defensive midfielder.

As good as Adebayor was the season before last, his attitude and some of the comments he's come out with make me think we are better off without him.

I wouldn't mind if all the money went on a DMF to be honest. I think, if our crozillian stays fit, we'll have enough options up front.

Either way though I'll be happy just as long as we spend the money.

From Gunnerblog...

With a press conference from Eastlands in a matter of minutes, hopefully we’ll have more news this afternoon. It’s entirely possible that Adebayor could walk out alongside Tevez, signifying a transfer that’d be celebrated as much in North London as in Manchester.

How sweet would that be? Can't see that happening though.

Tevez has arrived on his own so you'll have to wait a little longer to get the party poppers out.

I know it's been said already but if Citeh do take Ade off us, how many forwards will they need? It's crazy.

Santa Cruz

Ade

Tevez

Robinho

Bellamy

Would be the five I'd keep with Robinho playing left mid in certain formations.

Then we've still got Evans, Benjani, Bojinov and Caicedo at the moment but I'd expect them all to leave.

exactly - they have set themselves up perfectly with 4 great strikers with Robinho being used as LM

If they can get a settled defense and decent away form they will be right up there at the end.

City definitely need another, bigger forward as an option for RSC and Ade fits that role perfectly. For us it would be a great signing as he's replacing Felipe Caicedo as our 'big lump up front'...

Hughes is going to have a hell of a dressing room to deal with though, granted.

Well, that's fair enough...it's just when you see all those names listed in one go it looks a bit mad.

Looks like this one has moved fast...

"Would you like a lift up there Emmanuel? Don't worry about your stuff, we'll bring that up for you. Have you got a pen that works? Always pays to have a spare - take mine. And remember, if they ask, you know you're not meant to be stood beyond the last defender when someone passes to you."
