Can you imagine; Melo in, Flamini back, Eboue out, Adebayor Out AND some possibly some cash left over?

Amazing, simply amazing...

PS Reality is we keep both idiots and buy a 12 year old french forward.

People must remember that the newspapers have no football matches to talk about so they have to fill their pages with a load of lies.

I really hope no one gets too excited by any rumours. And if a deal sounds too good to be true, then it usually is.

The Melo announcement was made on Fiorentina's website though, no?

This was on their official website.

In English (according to Le Grove)

The Director of Fiorentina, Pantaleo Corvino deny the voices of these last hours of the market, which sees the player Felipe Melo certain other clubs and who are any meetings to define the transfer of the player states that:

1. – If the player had already reached an agreement on its behalf with any Club, the clause reserve determined by the same player at 25 million, does not provide any technical counterparts, unless it has the approval of Fiorentina.

2nd -The Director also states that Arsenal FC are the only club that has bid to the figure in the clause reserve.

3rd – Fiorentina, in turn, has proposed that the companies reduce the amount in the clause reserve, entering into negotiations for Eboue the right quarterback.

Would be a good deal if you ask me.

Edit: Also, Melo didn't apparently sign a new deal, there was already a clause in his contract that if he had a good season last year his contract would be extended by 1yr, he would get a pay rise, a clause of 25million euros would be inserted blah blah blah

Cheers LL. I hope this means that a deal is on it's way through  Good professionalism from Fiorentina!

Sagna-Toure-Vermaelen-Clichy

-----Flamini-----------Melo----------

-------------Fabregas----------------

Walcott--------------------Arshavin

-------------Eduardo------------------

Would be pretty impressive to put out in tough games. Replace Flamini/Melo with RVP or Nasri for easier ones...

With Arsenal's injury record, the only safe option is both.

But I'd fucking take Mido if someone wanted to swap Adebayor for him.

There is the makings of a chant there.

Also, my post above has decided just to take both.

I think we'll get Melo, can't quite see the Flamini deal happening, wouldn't mind if it did though.

Surely we'll strengthen in CM, there's no way AW can honestly believe Song, Denilson or Diaby is anywhere near good enough to challenge for trophies.

We might be a bit skint but we've got a few half decent players that can be makeweights, Adebayor, Eboue, Senderos, Diaby or Traore so I think some sort of deal will happen.

Edit: add Silvestre to that too.

I dont think we need two defensive midfielders, I am more than happy with Song as backup.

I can't help but think Melo will find himself in Turin next season. I know the transfer market has gone mad, but could you really see Arsene smashing our transfer record on a defensive midfielder who, by all accounts, has has only really come into his own this last season? I have seen very little of him, particularly in a defensive capacity, that said he does seem to have a lovely range of passes.

I don't think it would be out of the question for us to pay £20mio plus for a player, but it would have to be someone really special. Perhaps if we'd had a realistic chance to get Benzema for example, Wenger would have dug deep.

The Flamini stuff is surely just a flight of journalistic fancy isn't it?

The other thing that I have been thinking of since Wenger said we will play a formation that best suits our players is the possibility of us playing more of a 4-4-3 next season.

-------------Alumunia-------------

Sagna---Toure---Gallas---Clichy

--------Song/Fantasy DM---------

--------Fabregas----Nasri---------

--Arshavin----Ade----van Persie-

I think that would be an interesting formation. Nasri proved last season that he can flourish in a more central role, Cesc would hopefully be less constrained by defensive duties and there is no doubt we don't get the best of Arshavin on the wing.

My main concern with this is that we would be relying more on Clichy and Sagna for width and I can't say I have been at all impressed at the delivery of crosses from either of them for some time now.

The other thing is that whether it be Song or another player, the holding midfield role would be absolutely vital both centrally and covering forward runs from either of our fullbacks. A lot of responsibility either for a player just starting to make his mark in the team or a player who is new to the Prem.

Anyway enough Fantasy Football for one day...

I'm still hopefull about getting Melo. There have been stories coming out about Juve, but it'll come down to where the player wants to go.

Hopefully Gilberto will have another word.

Hope this doesn't mean we get stuck with Adebayor. We're running out of options by the looks of it.

"Milan have made offers for Huntelaar and Fabiano, but it's a difficult market because Real Madrid's spending has meant prices have doubled since last year," confirmed Galliani.

Yeah. I was certain he was going to be leaving at the end of last season, but now it's looking very much like he's going to stay.

I don't know how I feel about that to be honest, at the end of last season I just wanted him out the club even if we didn't get a replacement. Now I am not so certain.

The whole Milan new-contract blackmail was disgraceful and his attitude and workrate last season was even worse. The fact remains that he is an exceptionally talented individual and even if we did get a replacement, mentality aside, it is very unlikely that they would be of his quality.

I wish he would just come out and say "Look, I'm really sorry. My attitude last season was terrible, my head was in the wrong place. I don't expect the fans to be on my side next season, but I intend to do everything I can on the pitch to change that."

About as likely as hell freezing over, but without something like that I just don't see how anything is going to change next season.

Nah, he'll kiss his badge in a meaningless pre-season friendly and then be a c*nt for the rest of the year.

Arseblog have an Ivan Gazidis interview up which is pretty interesting. Doesn't say who we're going to sign though :hat:

Interesting? Fucking amazing if you can get away with having 1 more player than everyone else on the pitch!!!???

I always go 4-3-3 when I use Arsenal in anything and me and my cousin were talking about this today. Definately think it's the way forward for the Gooners.

I can imagine this is what every Arsenal fan feels like, he can be on another level when he wants, and it seems when he had genuine competition for his place in Eduardo he gave his all every game. Maybe Eduardo coming back will spur him on again.

What on Earth are you on about, he's got 10 outfield players.

Or have you been outfoxed by the "/" being used as an "or"?

Well first I saw 4-4-3, then admittedly that did make me count the '/' as a '-----' at first, then I realised and bolded the 4-4-3

There was a team a few years ago in one of the cup competitions who had 12 men on the pitch for a while before it was spotted. Would be nice to have that option, bring someone on without taking anyone off :hat:

You now have me trying to work out our best 12 player team

Fixed

Hmmm, I would have agreed before he got his leg snapped, but he really does have a long way back still. It's natural in every player who breaks his leg in a game that he'll be reluctant to take any kind of impact on it, you could really see it when he finally did play last season.
