Decent win yesterday. Cesc coming back and making two goals was really encouraging to see.

Sets us up nicely for our trip to Spain in the week.

Yep, sure does. A bit worried about more injuries though, cuts down our options. Potentially we could be without Nasri, Vela, van Persie, Diaby, Eduardo and Walcott although I'd expect to see three of them fit.

ManYoo and Villa are 1-1, Villa the better side for my money.

Man City were rubbish. We played very good football the whole 90 mins but we don't score enough goals. I think the likes of Everton would have given City a good tonking yet with all our class we only managed 2 goals. Should have been about 6.

As for Adebayor, he's been so annoying this season yet scores two very good goals. So I can see why someone like Inter or AC Milan would be prepared to pay £30m+ for his services. If we let him go, who will we replace him with? Some 14 year old who might be good in 5 years time?

If we are to make progress we need to keep the squad together. Some of the garbage like Bendtner can go, but if we are to stand a chance of winning anything they must stay together. Letting Cesc & Adebayor go would set us back a year or two, if their departures unsettled van Persie and Clichy then they might want to go too and that will weaken us enough to make us a mid-table team.

I'd don't know what has happened in the last 2 months, but we have gone from not making a tackle to challenging for every single ball. Teams can no longer waltz past our midfielders and defenders and we have stopped letting in stupid goals. It's no secret that we have flown up the table since the defensive frailties have been resolved.

Tuesday's game against Villarreal will be tough. Ideally I'd like a 1 or 2 goal lead but even a draw wouldn't be a bad result. Unfortunately ITV will be broadcasting the match so we'll have to put up with their muppet commentators and pundits for the evening. I might be forced to use mute button.

Can anyone see van Persie signing a new deal? It's got 'Flamini' written all over it. He'll run his deal down I reckon.

To make a change from the usual chat in here, I have a question for fellow Gooners.

Who do you think was Arsenal's best ever midfielder?

For me this is very easy to answer, it's Patrick Vieira. I don't need to say why he was so good because you all know his strengths, but he was about as complete as footballers come. I could never understand why he didn't get more goals because he could finish superbly. I think my favourite goal of his was the edge of the area belter against Man United. It flew over Schmeichel's head and he just gestured to his players as if to say "well what could I do about that?". Brilliant.

And the feud with Man United and Roy Keane in particular will be talked about for decades. I feel Vieira always managed to come out on top more often than not as our record against Man United was very good.

Vieira signed off with the winning penalty in the FA Cup final in 2005. I was at that game just as I was at Vieira's first when he made his debut against Sheffield Wednesday as a substitute. His performances were always first class. The man is a legend! :P

I think if he doesn't sign anything this summer he will definitly be off. I don't think we will miss him that much as his goal record has never been prolific and he's very injury prone. I'd still rather him stay than go though as knowing Wenger his replacement will not have started shaving yet.
