That was brilliant. The camera that was focussed on Almunia showed him commit, and then wait for an age for the ball to actually come into shot and reach him. What a pathetic penalty, I hope he feels suitably stupid.

Did he fluff it because of that firework going off?

Where can I see this penalty?

God, if we get Barcelona or Bayern, or pretty much any team, to be honest, and perform like that, we are going to get absolutely destroyed.

I feel totally drained after the game last night. I can't quite describe how bad we were. One thing I did notice what how fit our players were compared to Roma's. I am just worried that all Wenger does is spend time on fitness and conditioning as it's obvious that nothing tactically is done in training. We were a fucking shambles last night and extremely fortunate that Roma were hapless in front of goal.

We are clearly a very, very poor team and I think anyone will relish playing against us in the quarters. All I can hope for is the away leg first and then hopefully we can scrape through that and just do enough at home to go through. We don't deserve to be in the quarter finals though, so I hope they pick themselves up and give some sort of an acceptable performance next time.

Don't we? Surely the performance in the first leg warrants a place, even if the second was shit. We deserve it no less than Roma, certainly.

We have been crap all season. The champions league and the quarter finals stages onwards should be about Europe's elite battling it out. Going by our performances, we look totally out of our depth. The only other team that looks weak on paper left in the competition is Porto and look at the arse whooping they gave us at their stadium in December. The 2-0 loss was extremely flattering as it should have been far heavier.

Our players have no hunger which is why they don't achieve anything. Whoever we get in the next round, it will be miraculous if we reach the semi's.

I think we will get to the final against Man Utd and beat them. Most teams that win the CL are a team that did not dazzle on their route to the final, but fought there way there.

I have to say I am suprised at the negative comments, our young and relatively inexperienced players showed incredible composure and determination to win last night.

Yes we are bad, but has the best team in Europe always won the CL

A neat summation of the problem, I think.

It's a team of kids who are paid huge wages despite having won nothing.

Good job that Baptista is terrible though.

My God. You moaning bastards. Roma have experience and are difficult to break down. Arsenal are young and showed remarkable composure to get to penalities and see it through. Yes you can't score, yes you play poor, but your through, you have grit and determination, and you have the pedigree to play beautiful football once the tactics are sorted.

:)

You obviously haven't watched Arsenal much this season. We have the potential to get totally embarrassed in the next round.

Just been reading about the return of the injured players of which most will be back next month except one.

What the fuck is going on with Rosicky? I heard a coke related rumour but surely if that was the case a few months in rehab would sort?

Rosicky is meant to retire this summer.

And Eduardo is injured again and will be ruled out for a bit.

No shock there, I reckon Eduardo will be on/off the treatment bench for the rest of his career.

Let's hope not. I think his current problems are understandable, he's getting used to top flight games again. There's nothing can prepare you 100% for competitive football. He needs games and easing back into things.

With Rosicky, I won't believe anything until it's official.
