Wasn't Bergkamp on a rolling 1 year contract for years though? Seemed more like Pires wanted to leave, although it was a shame to see him go. Hopefully Nasri can become the new Pires, who the new Flamini is I have no idea...

Bergkamp kept getting a new one year deal every year for a few years. I think Pires was 33 and we offered him one more tear and he wanted two. For me Pires and Henry should never have left. Vieira has struggled with injuries but I would have probably kept him too. Look at Man Utd. Giggs, Scholes, Neville all still playing.

Theres a slight difference with those players in that they have always been at United, I wouldn't necessarily expect other players to stay onto that age.

As Dude says I don't think any of those were begging for moves. We had just seen off the worst of the Madrid speculation regarding Vieria and then we sold him to Juventus. Pires just wanted a longer deal and Henry, well i'm sure Wenger could have kept him if all the others were there and he really tried to keep him.

The bigger problem would have been us staying in the frame for trophy's which hasn't happened.

Amazing boots.

They're like someting from the 1930's, only with red studs.

Can't imagine what he'll make of Bendtner's pastel colours boot range.

Loving those boots too. Understated. Really looking forward to his debut.. now that last weeks over anyway! :eyebrows:

Eboue is banned for the cup game so Wenger will be forced to try someone else.

Hopefully Diaby will still be injured :eyebrows: and he'll play Vela & Nasri left and right.

Chelsea

I admire Steve cos he stands by his opinions and goes to games etc. but I don't always agree with him :) . Walcott is one of the three players I'd least like to leave.

He's like the English Messi, watch next year, if he stays fully fit, he's unplayable at times.

If he gets anywhere near Messi's level we can't go wrong.

The reason I say that is because of their similarities, in that they're both lightning fast, Theo's probably that bit faster, they carry the ball with a high level of speed and control, Messi probably more control, can pass/cross, Messi slightly better, and can finish, I'd have to give the shooting to Theo. What I love most about them is how direct they are with their running, yet 9 times out of 10 they have to be fouled to be stopped, but instead of rolling around feigning injury, they get up smile at the guy who's just fouled 'em with that look that says, I'll be coming at you again asap mate.

I would say that I can't ever remember Theo buying a foul, the opposite in fact. He seems to want to stay upright first and foremost. And yes, he does seem to want to punish agricultural tackles in the purest way possible by winning the battle again and again. If you man mark him and get carded early then forget it.

Why the fuck isn't he sitting on a new deal? He's been out injured for months and the new fella is supposed to be dealing with all this, no?

What's the best greasy spoon on Blackstock Road/surrounding area? I cannot face drinking tonight and think I might gyp if I go near a beer. Is the Arsenal Cafe still open? Not been there in years.

Can't remember the name but there's a pretty decent one not to far down the Blackstock road, on the left hand side going south.
