The thing that annoys me is even if we cannot afford anyone...why do we never get anyone on load. Appiah on loan or even a free would have been OK, but instead he is at Spurs whilst they decide if they want him or not.

Has Wenger ever had anybody in on loan?

Very annoying indeed

Julio Baptiste, but not Adriano

I can't understand how it can 'go through tonight'. There was an extension if Clubs emailed in advance and said the weather was causing problems. How would that apply to us?

Reports suggest that a huge shower of shit recently seen around the club may have affected things.

SSN just said that the deal should go through tomorrow morning. Apparently it was simply a case of nobody at the FA being there to process the paperwork. It was faxed over at 4.30 but there wasn't enough people there to process it all. Only one person made it into work!

Well if it goes through good but if not then Soviet (So be it) :)

Until I see the fucker in the shirt I don't believe any of it.

Gunnerblog just about sums it up:

On reflection, were this to fall through I suspect most people would just laugh. This is the most ridiculous transfer saga I can ever remember us being involved with this. Compared to this, Baptista was a breeze. That’s not to say I don’t want the player - I really, really do - but this has is becoming unbearable.

We thought it had to end by last Monday. Then before the West Ham game. Then before 5pm yesterday. Surely, by midday today, we will have some closure on what has become a truly torturous episode.

Quite a good Arseblog today that puts the transfer in a bit more context and explains why it may have gone like it has, rather than Gunnerblog's effort :D

Really? I thought the opposite. Arseblog is good but it's just some bloke's ranting. Gunnerblog actually tells me something I don't know.

Agreed, I tired of Arseblog some time ago. I'd appreciate it if Gunnerblog removed that terrifying bit of 'artwork' from the site though. The look on RVP eyes suggests he's about to go on some awful homicidal rampage.

Not wanting to jump the gun or anything, but they just had a guy from Russia Today speaking on Sky Sports and he was extremely positive and was basically saying he's amazing. He said he always gives 100%, he's a family guy and in Russia he's a sporting hero. He said he expects this to easily be the best signing of the window, and the best possible signing Arsenal could have made.

Now, let's get it all sealed and see him holding the shirt please :( .

I cannot believe we waited practically the whole month right up to the deadline, and almost 24 hours later, we are still waiting. Does nobody at Arsenal know the deadline was yesterday? This picture says it all really.

"I did not walk for the first four years of my life. It got to the stage where they took me to a church and told my mum they'd pray for me for a week. They said that, if I did not walk by the end of that week, it meant I would never walk. It was a strange thing to say and you can understand why Mum was crying.

"They started praying at midnight on the Sunday. All the week, I'm not walking. By Saturday midnight my mum was all over the place, crying. For her, it was all over. She had taken me everywhere in Africa and nothing had worked.

"Anyway, I was in the church laying down and, around nine or ten o'clock on the Sunday morning, I could hear children playing outside.

"Suddenly somebody kicked a ball into the church. And the first person to stand up and run was me, because I wanted to get that ball.

"My mum was afraid because she had never even seen me walking and suddenly I was running after a ball. And all the people in the church who had been praying for me told my mum, 'Your son is walking because of football. It must mean the boy has football in his blood.'

"It's an amazing story. But it is true. My mum has told me about it all my life" - Emmanuel Adebayor.
