Yeah it sounds like Arshavin just assumed Arsenal paid the big bucks, probably after talking to Pavlyuchenko at Spurs.

Quite amusing if he was offered half his Zenit wage.

I read somewhere he's on £40k at Zenit. Obv. we don't know what's true and what isn't. I think we're trying to call Zenit's bluff over the fee, personally.

I think that was just basic with massive bonus payments and what not which made his average weekly wage an awful lot higher.

Arshavin deal "very close" according to Sky. They keep showing him on his mobile outside an airport. I reckon it will happen but not until we squeeze every penny out of them and take it to the death.

Everything is agreed apart from this payment they want from him according to Sky.

The most important thing for me if I was Arshavin would be a clause that said that Wenger would stop selling all of Arsenals important players and trying to build a team to compete in the EPL and ECL on a shoestring budget, like some kind of mentalist.

1615: Andrei Arshavin has passed his medical at Arsenal, so he is very, very close now to completing his move from Zenit. I cannot wait to see that little genius from Euro 2008 in the Premier League.

"So, Andrei, how are you feeling?"

"Ah, not too bad, doc."

"Yeah, he seems fine to me!"

JUST PAY THEM THE FUCKING EXTRA MONEY YOU STUPID CUNTS.

I'm really, really fucked off. They won't pay the 2million, so we're gonna miss the CL and £22million as a result; I thought we were supposed to be good at maths and this economics thing.

Really fucked off.

It would have taken more than Arshavin to guarantee 4th, really. It would have helped.

It's the principle though. What kind of message does it signal to the fans, opponents, the rest of the squad? A proven, quality international and it's taken them 33 days of dicking about and NO ONE brought in over a 10% difference.

Pathetic.

It is, I agree. Any new signing would have made a lot of difference, and I think Arshavin might have helped inspire a bit more confidence. Oh well.

Nothing will improve confidence now. We're shit, have no ambition and can't even make signings to players who want to join. What the fuck's going on?

Something really special needs to happen in the next 6 months or next year could be catastrophic.

It's more down to Arshavin paying Zenit his loyalty/signing fee. I suppose the buying club normally help with that though.

I've being speculating about hidden agendas for about two years. I don't know what else to say. We can't all be missing a trick here. It's not good enough, even with the injuries we've got. A Club like Arsenal should at least plug gaps to ensure some (relative) success, but we're seeing it all go down the pan. It's no good saying we'll have Cesc, Rosicky, Eduardo and Walcott back tomorrow cos our problems are happening today.

I wonder if the Club will be sold at the end of the season.

"Apparently AW is "confident" that a "positive announcement" will be made tonight. Jesus Christ - I've never seen anything like this."

It'll be awesome if he does sign. I hope no-one thinks we're going to leap-frog Villa in a few games, though.
