If he does come in I'll be happy - regardless of the fact he isn't exactly what we've be crying out for and it'd be pretty churlish to complain and those grounds if we do sign him.

Unfortunately I have a feeling that'll be our one and only signing. I hope not but going by the noise Wenger made in the past it seems he only really planned to make the one signing in this window.

Yes, its a tricky one. There seem to be rumours here and there about other signings but nothing that seems to stick for long.

I'm really surprised that Arsene was so quick to knock back offers for Eboue. I assume its because of the current injury list?

"They moan at me that the squads too small, now they moan that I'm not selling players!"

I think the lack of defensive purchases means that for the rest of the season we can expect Arsenal to play "however many you score, we'll score more." Every game will be a seven goal thriller.

So, Zenit have agreed to a £15m offer apparently and the deal should be complete over the next 48 hours.

I know Arshavin doesn't quite seem to fill our most pressing needs but he seems to be a cracking player. All in all, assuming he arrives, I will be chuffed!

Anybody else to arrive before the deadline do we think?...

I reckon he might pull a cheeky unknown signing out of the bag. Probably some defender/midfielder we've never heard of from the French league.

Arshavin would definitely be exciting though and could be the difference between 4th and 5th this year. I reckon he'll create more than he scores.

Amazing that we're talking about 4th or 5th. I can understand it but we're six points off the top. As bizarre as it might sound after all we've been through, but we're still in the race. We could end up with a treble ;) . Imagine Arshavin hitting the ground running, Nasri getting better every game, Eduardo and then Walcott, Rosicky and Cesc for the run in. It's all a bit fingers crossed, granted, but on paper we're not too badly placed.

Did you have sugar on your cornflakes this morning?! Two weeks ago you were bascially writing the club off, never mind the season.

Today, you're quite right and I think we're in a grand place to sneak up and grab a couple of places. Truth be told, I think ManYoo will finish top but mostly because they'll take points off Liverpool and Villa at Old Trafford. I can see us in Second, definitely. And winning the FA Cup.

I've followed football long enough to know that my opinion can do a 360 literally overnight. That's my right as a football fan ;) . Besides, a lot of what I've said I stand by. It just so happens that what I said this morning is true, by hook or by crook we find ourselves in a pretty good position :D . I hope that everyone at the Club sees that too. Everyone can sit back and laugh, push the Arshavin signing through, maybe get one more on board and then knuckle down and redouble our efforts for the run in.

Wenger is also adamant that there are no other arrivals on the immediate horizon, and the Frenchman is instead focused upon the eventual return to fitness of captain Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott and possibly Tomas Rosicky.

He said: "We are not close to signing anybody else, but what I see in training is a very determined team of top quality.

I know it's only 6 points but I can't see us getting 6 more points than Man Utd or Liverpool. I would take 4th.

United have an Arsenal like injury list. Liverpool have lost form. We can take three points from both of them. I'm not saying we're odds on or anything but strangely we're in with a definite shout.

I am not being a miserable grump but I can't see it. It's been a funny season but I can't see us getting more points than all four teams above us in the remaining games. We shall see.

No, I know -_- . Although, to be honest, we've all been miserable all season and rightly so in some respects.

I do find it ironic though, that with a much weaker squad than last year and playing some really quite functional football, we find ourselves still in with a shout. If we win our next game and United and Liverpool lose :) . Massive IF but imagine that scenario.

He's tried harder than any other player this year, but Clichy has been pretty gash recently if we're telling the truth.

I'll say it again because I love being able to say I told you so, but the Arshavin signing seems like the last throw of the dice from a desperate man. A fancy Dan who fits into this mad total football vision that Wenger has swirling around his cranium. Rather than just swallowing his pride and admitting he's made mistakes, we're buying a light weight, technical forward rather than addressing the very real issue that he's completely fucked the balance and focus of the squad. It's like we've seen this system isn't working, waited until all of our attacking options are injured and then tried to replace them again to continue like nothing is wrong. It's insane. Anyone talking about us winning the league is officially out of their minds.

Not up to the standards of last year but 'gash' is pretty ridiculous.

Six points says it's definitely a possibility. Who's saying we're going to win it? No-one. Who's saying it's possible? Me, for one. If you can't see that then you're the mad man. Six points? Fucking hell. Let's give up now, tell the players. Six points is way too much, just as we've come into the nearest you could call 'good form' all season  .

In other news..

Arsenal fans will soon be able to watch highlights of the match they are attending on their games consoles, after the football club starts trial with Sony.

The tie up between Arsenal and the consumer electronics giant is being hailed as a landmark for broadcast technology.

It will allow any of the 60,000 fans that attend the Emirates stadium to tune into their PlayStation Portables – a handheld games console – and watch live streaming of the match with a five second delay from next season.

This will mean fans that missed a tackle or goal could glance down and see an immediate replay. The technology will also allow fans to enjoy highlights of key moments with a 1 minute delay.

The streaming will only be available within the stadium. The wireless signal, used to broadcast the footage, will be locked to stop fans watching the games on their consoles in a pub around the corner.

The highlights, however, will be able to be stored on the machines, allowing fans to show their friends the key moments of the match later that day.

Micah Richards for £7mill. Not bad if there is any truth in it.

I'd be happy with any kind of signing at the moment.

We still might get Arshavin but what a shambles, bustin' our balls or what, why do we have to go through this every fuckin' transfer window?

We've heard it all, how the current squad is good enough, good enough for what exactly? 5th place!

And how about the 4 new signings? Walcott, Eduardo, Cesc and Rosicky (if he ever gets off the crack). Surely that's taking the piss.

Arshavin would be a great signing. Just pay the money for fucks sake, and then go and sign a CB and a DMF so we don't have to put up with these mugs anymore (you know who they are).

We've gone back to the pre/early George Graham days. At least then we had some real defenders though, and later on Ian Wright and were always capable of keeping a cleen sheet and scoring a goal.

I feel much better now, I've been waiting since the 1st of Jan to say that and I'm afraid I've been pushed too far and have finally cracked.

Michah Richards? Holy shit. If that's the best we can do I'd be ashamed. He's just a great big unit who runs really fast to get to the ball then doesn't have the first clue of what to do when he gets it. It's so frustrating to think that everything we need now, we had and let go.

I'd be gutted to lose him. He made his reputation on recovering after his and Dunne's mistakes admittedly but he's one of the few players we have that has the raw talent (physically, great tackler and header of the ball) to succeed at the very top. Plus he's not even 21 yet. He just needs his head sorted and a good coach. If Hughes can't see that then good luck to you guys, I honestly think he'd be an amazing signing in the long term for you, if Wenger can get into his head.

I think he's said before that he's an Arsenal fan aswell.

I'd agree with you there Tyler, a good coach and Richards could be something special. I don't see it happening though, seems a bit cheap at 7 million. Still, I wouldn't think it a bad signing.

I think this whole relentlessly bleak outlook needs to change, it's shit but it really isn't as bad as we seem to think. Blowing the current situation out of proportion servers no fucking purpose. I'm not calling for us all to start being totally unrealistic but poo pooing every little thing to the nth degree is fucking ridiculous.
