If we buy Arshavin it should only be because he really wants him.
Arshavin would be a good signing. He's better than 90% of what we've got. That can't be bad.

Apparently he's said he want to come to Man City now.

ps. Bendtner? I haven't seen him do anything that shows me he's an Arsenal player. Average at best.

I know we haven't had the best of seasons but this takes the piss. Mind you, it was only a few months ago that he REALLY wanted to play for Spurs. And REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanted to play for Real.

Oh well, he wasn't tall enough for CB anyway :)

and really really really wanted to go to Barca!

The guy is only about the money, if you buy him and he does well don't expect to hang onto him when someone with more cash comes knocking.

That's the same as most footballers then.

Exactly. He wants a good deal, especially at the age he is, and he hasn't distanced himself from any big club that's supposedly shown an interest. Nor would I. He's a handy player and I'd welcome the signing but I'm not too fussed. I'd just as soon we gave Vela a run but we'll have to trust Wenger on this one.

Apart from Kaka.

We're not Manchester City though and Kaka's not playing in a two bob league, relatively speaking.

I'm going to Cardiff on Sunday. Should be fun! They love the English so I'm sure I'll be made to feel welcome at Ninian Park...

Should be a cracking game - I'm assuming you'll return the favour of us letting you win in the last FA Cup game at Highbury ;-).

Biggest away following to come to Ninian for many many years - you get to stand on a large covered terrace before it gets torn down in May.

The pain is that all the little chavs who tend to stand on that terrace have had to be relocated and will probably be crawling over my 3 man terrace on the edge of the Bob Bank.

I'm going 3-2 to Arsenal. Ramsey with a screamer to win it at the death

I personally think this pursuit of Arshavin is insane. I know it's Wenger's favourite rhetoric, but we do have a load of attacking options to return, plus Vela who hasn't even been given a chance yet. What we don't have coming back is a centre back of any quality, a central midfielder or a keeper. I'd rather we stopped shipping stupid goals and became a unit again that spending vast sums of money on some super technical forward that doesn't seem to give a flying bastard who he plays for.

We don't know what's happening to be fair. He might have two central defenders lined up for all we know, and have no inclination for Arshavin. One things for sure, we'll never be happy.

To be honest, I think CCFC fans dislike people from west Wales far more than they dislike the English. If you go on forums like cardiffcity.com you'll find English people who support Cardiff City.

Fun fact: one of the reasons people in west Wales dislike Cardiff as a city is that its full of 'outsiders' (they generally list English, Asians, English, African and English people as the main offenders. And the English.)

You'd be much better off going for Tymoschuk if you're getting someone off of Zenit, classy DM and a proper leader.

This. I think I've said as much in here in the past. Add those two and a centre back to the squad and Arsenal would look like a proper force again. It'd be pricey, mind.

All this Arshavin talk could be academic now as The Times is reporting that it's all gone decidedly tits up. Remember the days when we used to buy world class players and there was no rumours or anything, just David Platt or Robert Pires holding up a shirt at the training ground? What the fuck happened to them.

Forbes magazine has released a top 10 list of the most valuable sports franchises in the world. While it is mostly made up of American gridiron Football (NFL) and American Baseball (MLB) teams, there are three European association football teams in there and Arsenal is one of them.

1. Man Utd (EPL): $1.8bn

2. Dallas Cowboys (NFL): $1.6bn

3. Washington Redskins (NFL): $1.5bn

4. New England Patriots (NFL): $1.32bn

5. New York Yankees (MLB): $1.3bn

6. Real Madrid (La Liga): $1.29bn

7. Arsenal (EPL): $1.2bn

8. New York Giants (NFL): $1.18bn

9. New York Jets (NFL): $1.17bn

10. Houston Texans (NFL): $1.17bn

The Forbes article states that Arsenal took in $329 million in revenue last year—also mentioning the pricing of club level seats and private boxes at Emirates Stadium and the value of the stadium naming rights.

Television revenue, advertising sponsorship, fan merchandising, and revenue-producing assets like stadiums and match day receipts are fueling these valuations.

Clearly, the earning power of these clubs is very healthy which bodes well for any spending plans that they have. Who needs billionaire owners when you generate that much economic wealth on your own? Ok, that might make Man Utd. a bit of a contradiction, but it bodes well for Arsenal's business model.

Now Arsenal needs the on-pitch performance to match such lofty heights.

And here we are haggling over a couple of extra million quid for a top player like Arshavin.

Edit: Eduardo

He is a carpenter for a huge department store in London. He's always talking about "this player came in" and "so and so was there the other day" but he never gets any pics because they're not supposed to harass people. Obviously he made an exception with Fabregas.

I'm an English Cardiff fan and I can confirm that I dislike Jacks <spit> more than my countrymen (or anyone else for that matter).
