I'm hearing Upson and Arshavin quite soon.

Where d'you here that?

I'd be happy with that.

Doesn't matter if we had Upson, sold him for £3mill, and we're gonna pay whatever now. Really doesn't matter. We sold Keown and then bought him back and that turned out pretty damn well. Arshavin would be a great addition. If a signing is better than what you have then that can't be bad.

Still need a DM, now as well.

Nasri is a constant menace, I'm so glad that we switched him for Hleb. Nice finish today as well, I almost jumped through the roof.

Also good to see Bendtner score, and be reminded that he only turned 21 yesterday.

Wow. Feel a bit bad for being so harsh on him now. If he carries on like this there is a real chance he may be decent. Another goal off the bench and unlucky not to score his header.

Yeah, he made me change my mind a bit on Saturday. He's really powerful, if he can mature mentally he might be the real deal. He certainly changed the game on Saturday but he doesn't really impress when he starts. Hopefully that will come while he's still with us.

On the subject of Arshavin, I'm not really that fussed to be honest :) . With Nasri, Vela, Walcott, Rosicky (you never know), van Persie, Bendtner, Eduardo, Adebayor, Wilshere, Simpson etc. surely someone will have to make way. I wonder if it might be Adebayor to Milan if the Kaka deal goes through. In fact, I'm not sure about any new signings and I know that sounds bonkers or a reaction to a good run of results, but when you look at players more or less ready to come through like Ramsey it's easy to understand Wenger's reluctance. There's no guarantee that a signing will be a success and it'll hold back someone else and send out the wrong message. At this stage I think I'd rather just write off this season, to be honest.

I'm not overly keen on Arshavin either. I think the money would be better spent elsewhere, we don't really need a player like that, and as you say, I too would like Simpson, Vela, Wilshere or Ramsey to be given a shot rather than a new signing.

Nasri is really looking good. Was a lovely finish. Hleb would have looked for a pass wouldn't he?

If that's the case it makes now an even better time to sign players. A player that's here from the start of next season already having some Premier League experience is far better than the same one signed in July.

Yeah, but any new signing will have to be a superb one, not just a short term solution. That blocks someone else from coming through. Say he buys Inler, someone I know nothing about. What does that do for Ramsey, assuming Cesc stays? If we buy Arshavin, what next for Vela? You need a big squad but it's gone too far to shut these players out now. It's easy to say on the back of a couple of wins but the faith is coming back slowly but surely. I'd hate to think Wenger has buckled. If we buy Arshavin it should only be because he really wants him.

Sorry, just thinking out loud. I know we all know this already.

Disagree, new signings of real quality are essential to create competition and make sure players have to prove week in week out their desire to play in the first team, something that has been sorely lacking in numerous games this season.

I think you are right that competition is important but we desperately need a strong central midfielder and a tall centre back (although Djourou may have actually solved that problem) before any other areas are addressed.

IMO If Ramsey and Vela are good enough they will make it, with or without fresh competition.

I agree with the above.

Arshavin would be a good signing. He's better than 90% of what we've got. That can't be bad.

We should still look for a CB (i think 2 are needed) and a DMF.

I don't think that would hold back the likes of Vela, Ramsey or Wilshire. It would simply weed out the scrap (Eboue, Diaby) and if 5 CB's is too much, then again the odd one or two can go.

As has been the case now for years, we seem to be very unlucky with injuries so why not have a squad of 15 top international and 5 or so top youngsters, instead of, like now, 6 or 7 top internationals, 5 or so top youngsters, 4 or 5 average palyers and 4 or 5 shit players.

Edit: I feel a bit bad about Bendtner too. Maybe we should wait a little bit longer before we transfer him to the 'scrap' category, he might just prove us wrong.

One swallow does not a summer make. The guy is hopeless. His decision making is beyond abysmal and I don't think I've ever seen such a bad touch on a professional footballer. He's hesitant and much of the squad visibly dislike him. If we could swap him for Upson I'd bite their hands off.
