Arsenal

Typical :) .

I only listened to the first half and it seems they were all over us. Not entirely unexpected.

Watched the second half and was pleasantly surprised in spells given their form, away from home, injuries etc.

The equaliser was down to our midfield IMO, I think they ran out of steam. A more experienced player/s would have closed their fella down and we'd have won it. Our midfield was so full of holes towards the end, you can't win like that.

Again, you need to look at he players but I think the manager, seeing this virtually every single week, must shoulder the ultimate blame. What on earth is he thinking?

Another home game, another day where I am going out of habit rather than going because I want a decent afternoon out watching the Arsenal.

Christ, I have never felt like this in 20 years. It's like I know it will not be worth going because I'll just be frustrated for 90 mins and leave the stadium with the hump. Maybe they'll surprise me and take advantage of Portsmouth's woes?

Regardless of your club's form, lack of experienced players, problems etc, why not get behind the team, I've never heard of such fair weather supporting as much as I do in this thread. Maybe that's because I'm a Spurs fan and am used to being miserable but come on your club is going through a transition, it's taken a new shape to the one you are used to going to see play unbeaten, you surely should be getting behind the team for the rest of this season and maybe after be calling for change. Wenger does seem to be getting a little too pig headed and senile, his idea doesn't seem to be challenging for the Premiership but that's because you lack a bit of experienced graft in centre midfield and a world class centre back which hopefully for you will come in January.. well 50/50 anyway.

why not get behind the team

We do but most of the players can't be arsed. Even in the early 90's, we weren't the best team around but at least those wearing the red & white gave 100%. I can't fault players who give 100%, even if they are not talented because it means they are giving their best. The only times most of our players gave 100% in a game this season was home to Man United and away to Chelsea. This infuriates fans because they should give 100% against everyone else - that's how you win games and trophies.

When the fans can clearly see players not giving their all, they get on their backs. Most of our players have been lazy cunts this season and I don't understand it.

Admittedly, I don't go and see Arsenal play week in week out (have been to see you quite a lot though!) so I haven't really noticed the lack of commitment. The whole Adebayour debacle at the start, the injuries, the lack of spending has seemingly dented the fans' confidence not only in the players but with the way the club is being run. I'd still look forward to watching them as I do usually on MOTD.

Indeed.

The team needs a reboot and not just in terms of players. We need someone to come in and teach the team, the whole fucking team, how to defend. We have a great base that needs work. We can't win anything with just a base and without a change in certain places we'll never make this fabled "transition" everyone talks about.

Thank fuck.

What on earth does Wenger see in Bendtner? He's fucking awful. And Eboue. Clichy continues to lead by example, he actually looks like he gives a fuck and I can't say that about too many others.

Mate, the crowd were after Wenger's head today. The atmosphere around the place was like nothing I've heard before. When people learned Bendtner was starting ahead of van Persie they went bananas. The performance today was about as bad as I've seen us play at home in an age and when Wenger (who is useless at subs) took Diaby off the guy to my left screamed like a woman in horror. Admittedly, his reaction was worth the entrance fee alone but to take him off and leave Bendtner, Eboue and Ade (who was woeful) on the pitch defied logic.

I don't really want to discuss the performance as I'll just get annoyed again and I'm chilled now and intend to stay that way.

"Civil war" is what my friends and I were joking about on Sunday. When Eboue went off a guy about ten rows in front of me must have started booing or shouting at him and a guy in front of him angrily turned around and told him to shut up and not to boo your own players etc. Got quite heated.

Arsenal fans seem to vary between two extremes. One who decides to blindly support the team and the manager and thinks you support them no matter what. And the other who is pissed off at what he sees and wants to let the players/Wenger know that this is not acceptable for £1000 a season. Personally, like Steve, I only go because I have a season ticket and would certainly not go if it wasn't so much of a habit. I stopped enjoying it a long time ago. But I don't boo.

There is no doubt that we have been spoilt over the Wenger years and there are many in a worse position than us but I think what gets people so annoyed is the crap we have been fed recently. Wenger has said this squad can win the league and clearly it cannot. We have been told there is money and it hasn't been spent when clearly it needs to be used to strengthen the squad. So only two things are possible:

1) There isn't actually any money. Wenger gets any money he generates from player sales but that is about it. When Henry left for £16m we spent about the same on Eduardo and Sagna, when Hleb left in summer we spent about the same on Nasri. The board has said there is money but perhaps the truth is the stadium is more expensive than we think? So they are saying there is money to keep the fans on side. I guess if Wenger spends loads in January this will be proved false.

2) The second and more scary possibility is that Wenger has gone mental. The man cannot seriously believe that this team is close to the side that went unbeaten for a whole season. He cannot believe this squad can win the league. Surely all this is just to appease the fans? He still buys good players, his last three major signings have been Sagna, Eduardo and Nasri. I don't think any of them can be questioned. But the squad contains so much mediocrity that something is very wrong.

I'm not sure what to believe. The first is more likely I reckon but I guess we shall see soon.

It's rather sad to see what has happened to Arsenal recently (and that is not meant in a patronising way). If Liverpool were not to win the league, then I would much rather have Arsenal win it over ManU or Chelsea.

From what I can tell, the problem is not who he has bought, but who he hasn't; a replacement for Flamini springs immediately to mind. I also worry that Wenger is starting to sound more and more like Houllier did in the last couple of years of his tenure at Anfield, with statements that seem so out-of-touch with how the everyday fans see things.

Am I right in thinking that you need CL football regularly to pay the interest on the Emirates (or was that a nonsense story I heard a while back)?

Actually he is starting to sound more and more like George Graham at the end of his reign when he kept repeating the mantra "The midfield players I want are not available" every five seconds. This after not spending anything for ages and with a midfield typically populated with Morrow, McGoldrick and John "goal machine" Jensen. Then, bizarrely he bought 3 players on the same day (Hartson, Kiwomya and Helder I think) and got the sack 2 days later over the bung incident.
