There have been some pertinent, but hysterical letters on F365 this afternoon: http://www.football365.com/mailbox/story/0...3975799,00.html

Right, lets leave all of this behind for this evening- as Arseblog pointed out this morning there are a bunch of Arsenal players out there tonight who need the win and our support. Come on you gooooners!

That's the spirit!

Still, after 30 or so minutes it's been a tad bit shaky.

Favourite dutch commentary so far: Walcott... Schnell

Every now and then I swear they start talking English. Love those Dutch :) .

Anyway, down to business..

I'm horrified so far. We've got nothing about us. We are so dependent on Cesc. This is a low for me. I can only see doom and gloom. Can anyone imagine what United or Chelsea would have done here? Like it or not that's the yardstick. Ramsey in centre mid at this point in time? WHAT? Great talent but we have strength in depth NOWHERE. On about 21 mins Clichy got taken out and on the follow through he could've got a knee to the face. Blah dee blah. I drifted off and was thinking, what would we do if he was out for 3, 4, 5 games? We're fucked all over the pitch IMHO. The evening started off by Gabby whatnot on the Olympics saying that Phelps was Immortal and it brought a tear to my eye thinking of that season. Lives long in the memory lads, think back if you need to. Amazing. How far are we from that? How much have our rivals moved forward? Where have we gone since that season? I can still remember walking to the ground that day, the t-shirt sellers ready before the game with UNBEATED already on their wares. Went one down and we knew we'd still win and do the unthinkable. UNBEATEN, all season. We were the boys, try and beat us and you'll end up embarrassed. Nowadays we're clinging to the hope of signing anyone. Literally anyone to boost the ranks.

This has been a knee jerk pessimistic post by Dude Ranch. He's had a cider.

Yeah, christ, it's only been our first 45 minutes of competitive football and we have got injuries all over the shop. Not that I think it's been a good or even decent first 45. It's been fucking shit.

All the same problems remain and need to be address even if we somehow manage to dick 'em in the 2nd half.

I pray this performance and fucking bad luck with injuries will wake Wenger out of his madness and he'll sign some players.

That are all 14 years young.

And injured.

Oooh, a bit of fight up front! If we can play shit and win its one thing to be positive about.

Why can't that Bischoff chap play today?

Because he's fucked for 2 - 3 months. And was like that when we bought him.

Classic Arsenal, whilst I'm on wikipedia looking for the origin of the word 'dude' Gallas goes and sticks one in! I reckon this will kill off Twente drive.

Coincidentally, I just found out what a Dude Ranch is.

Presumably that's Arsenal into the Champion's League then, so Wenger has no excuse not to splash out. What midfielders is he left with now though? Alonso is cup-tied until next year, I believe. Barry could well be tomorrow. Toure could well be by tonight (more wishful thinking on that count) which really only leaves Inler, I guess, for players we've been linked with.

Unless I'm wrong.

And the nutcase from France. Who's Youtube has parental advisory warnings. And who I would buy.

Actually, I'd but eight if it was my money.

and he'd butt you right back...

HA! Good spot.

Yeah, that fucking gonzo crazy fuck from France would be top of my list. Exactly the kind of player we need and haven't had for a while.

So, Wenger, get him and this Inler lad.

High five.

Players I'd definitely have playing in the Arsenal first team (that's ARSENAL FC FIRST TEAM) for choice from tonight. Going into proper competitive matches given our stature and fans ambition. Given that we really need to win something..

Almunia and Gallas, I'll say those two despite reservations.

Clichy, yes.

Sagna, yes.

van Persie, tentative yes given fitness concerns.

Adebayor, yes.

Others fit for the bench are Walcott and Denilson.

Otherwise no-one.

I'm on one tonight so apologies. It's only my opinion, I'm not saying I'm right.

No worries mate, that's what this thread is for! Glad that we got the win, regardless but there is definitely still work to be done. Its not only that some of the guys aren't good enough for us to compete over the course of the season but that it's also not fair to put them in the position where its their responsibilty to do so as part of the first team because of a lack of diligence from the management. They could well be vilified through no fault of their own because of this and it's just not on. Sort it out, boss.

Agreed :) .

Two nil. Better than Liverpool, that's something.
