New website's gone live. Looks much better.

Wonder how mush that cost us ^_^ .

Fuck, we need three signings to be competitive this season, IMO. Denilson and Ramsey aren't ready and we can't rely on Diaby. How the hell we've seen Flamini, Gilberto and Diarra leave and we've only signed a seventeen year old and an unknown crock is utterly beyond me. We also need someone big and strong at the back. Wenger talks in riddles about a signing but it won't be a decent established player, we all know that. I've said it before, but I think there are problems at the Club cos it's either that or Wenger is a major idiot.

If we'd just spend some cash on 2 or 3 high quality, established players then we'll go the distance this season. If not we'll have another promising but ultimately disappointing campaign. We keep talking about how buying experience could hurt our young players chances, but really how much do they learn from season after season of crushing defeat? It goes beyond triumph coming from adversity and just the realisation that we will always be a hairs breadth away until we seriously consider replacing the amount of talent that's strutted out of the front door.

Yep.

I like Denilson, Diaby etc. and I hope they have a future at the Club but I like Cesc more than either of them and if we don't start winning things he'll fuck off and I won't blame him. It's an admirable policy, bringing through youth and giving them a chance, but ultimately it's bollocks. How long do you wait? How long does Wenger get to pursue this policy? The system depends on two things: the squad staying together which it hasn't so far and probably won't in future and also that these players actually turn out to be as good as we hope and there's no guarantee of that. There's so much to be positive about and so many potentially great players coming through that not supplementing them with experience and proven quality is madness. We need to live for this season, not next or the one after that etc.

Right now I can only think we're in trouble somehow, be it financial or the backwards mentality of those in charge.

What a nutter - the fucking nutter!

I've got a bit of a soft spot for him, actually. The season we got to the CL final he was amazing and he always entertained one way or another. One game, we came from behind to lead after loads of time wasting from the opposition. The ball went behind for a goal kick and he hurdled the hoardings to go get it. As he came back he 'tried' to throw the ball back onto the pitch but it 'accidentally' hit the hoardings and bounced miles away at which point he chased after it ^_^ . He got a yellow card but it was so obvious ;) .

I was genuinely sad when he went, I wanted to keep him forever just to see what he'd get up to. I remember reading one of those minute-by-minute reports they have in the Guardian, for a match where Almunia was playing. Every time he touched the ball, the journalist wrote something like 'Almunia scoops up the ball and neatly throws it out. At no point does he throw it to the floor in a fit of petulance, slap a player round the face or sprint for the centre line. I miss Jens'.

The people in charge now are basically the same people who were in charge when we bought Henry, Overmars, Bergkamp, Wiltord, Campbell, Pires and any other big name player during Wenger's reign. Well apart from David Dein I suppose and would that have made a difference? Probably not.

We've heard that there's plenty of cash sloshing around for transfers, that the books are all in order and we've saved a small fortune refinancing the stadium repayments, so what the fuck's going on? I don't want us to blow stupid money on someone like Kaka, just sensible signings to add depth. We've got plenty of craft amongst the squad, but we saw the benefit of having Flamini just running about like a maniac. This might sound stupid, but I'd offer Fulham £4m for Jimmy Bullard - he's got a great engine on him, good with a dead ball and would offer us something different.

If we can see it surely Wenger can. I hate to say it but we will stuggle this season with this squad.

The starting 11 I’m not fussed about as it’s fantastic, but like you, the lack of depth in the squad troubles me. Wenger simply has to deliver this season. If we end this season without silverware it will be a disaster. That stupid league cup and a 4th place finish is the bare minimum that will be acceptable.

Wenger needs to remember that producing player after player is not his main objective, the main objective is to bring success to the club. The lack of signings has bothered me all summer. The season starts in a few days and now the lack of signings is simply pissing me off. Not to replace Flamini is stupid, to then let Gilbero leave and not replace either of them is idiotic. I just hope some players come in before the deadline. The way I see it, we need a number 1 goalie, 1 centre back and someone to replace Flamini.

There’s also a lack of experience throughout the whole team which is purely down to their age. It’s unfortunate that Gallas is the one the kids are meant to look up to. Hopefully he’s learned his lesson from last season and starts to act and behave like a captain.

You lost Comolli as well a couple years back to us, for a guy credited with being a top talent scout he's not done that well though.

One powerful man with a different vision of where to take the Club? He might have been the difference cos since he went things have really changed.

It’s unfortunate that Gallas is the one the kids are meant to look up to.

Especially when he's fucking shit. I'd (almost) rather play Djourou or Senderos. Actually, ideally I wouldn't have any of them and I'll include Toure in that although I'd possibly fit him in somewhere else. The two best full backs in Europe plus those four planks to choose from ^_^ .

Wow, it's awfully fucking bleak in here at the moment! But nearly all the concerns raised are warranted.

My main worry for the upcoming season is depth of the squad as I agree with Steve007 that the starting 11 is pretty fantastic albeit with a few questions raised of the centre with regard to defense. I do think Gallas deserves a second chance as captain and the call him shit as a defender is a bit much. He shone in a fair few games last season...yes, I know, let's see if he can do that when it isn't going our way this time.

We'd be mad to think Wenger doesn't plan to replace Flamini especially now that Diaby is out for a month. We've got Nasri to replace Helb and in Gilberto's place Arsene has decided to gamble with this Bischoff lad who seems will be at best a squad player. But think about how often we'd see Gilberto if he'd stayed. But god knows what this Bischoff lad is like.

Edit: (Actually, is that Bischoff lad injured at the moment? If he is that's hilarious. Anyway I only really consider him a last resort back up's back up and was making the point that the size of the squad isn't diminished. Yes, we still need a experienced CM though.)

Look, I don't disagree that we NEED a CM or two and a DC but I do believe we'll at least one more addition to the squad before the end of this window and it'll be a new CM. Has to be. And maybe then it won't be as bleak.

Also, chin up and don't forgot about Wilshire, the greatest player in the world!

Maybe...

In 20 years...

With luck.

But how can we be happy with the starting 11 when we don't know who the other CM is?

In other news has anyone picked up a ticket for the Fulham game? Really wanted to go but with £46.00(!) limited view(!) tickets being all that remain, I just couldnt justify it to myself.

I'm usually quite optomistic at the start of every season and for the last 10/15 years or so have genuinely beleived that we can win the league and/or even the CL.

I've got to say though that this season I can't really convince myself that we can win the league, the CL maybe, it being a cup competition an all.

We finished 2 points behing Chelsea and 4 behind Utd last season so there isn't a huge gap there at all but unless we at least buy a real CM and a real CB I honestly can't see us challenging.

As long as we have players like Eboue playing week in week out, no top quality CM to partner Cesc and we have to rely on Denilson or Diaby to be in the starting 11 every week (both adequate squad players for now mind), and no commanding CB at the club then I really can't see how we will cope with injuries, suspensions or players simply needing a rest to recharge.

While Chelsea can rest say Ballack or Lampard and play Essien instead, we have to hope Cesc stays fit all season and hope Diaby has suddenly turned into Vieira.

Utd can rest Scholes and play Anderson, or give Giggs a rest and play Nani.

Does anyone honestly believe Diaby or Denilson are really good enough to be first choice to partner Cesc?

Does anyone honestly believe that Gallas / Toure / Djourou / Senderos & Song are good enough as the only centre backs at the club?

Does Wenger really believe we can win the league without buying a CM and a CB? or are there some problems that we don't know about?

We got 7mill or so when the scum bought that muppet Bentley, how much did Vidic cost again?????

How much could we pick up Yaya Toure for? about half what villa want for Barry I reckon.

I'm sure once the season starts and we maybe actually buy someone I'll really believe we will everything, but at the moment it's shit.

I hate everyone, I hate that Wenger doesn't spend some dosh, I hate that he doesn't go out and buy an experienced CM and an experienced CB, I hate Adebayor and I hate Sp*rs, and Utd, and Chelsea, and I hate Ronaldo. Slave, pfff, What a mug!

No way.

As I said above, I wouldn't have any of them if I'm honest. I genuinely mean that. I hate Gallas, I'm indifferent towards the Swiss pair and although I love Toure he's no CB unless we somehow unearth his perfect partner.

Does Wenger really believe we can win the league without buying a CM and a CB? or are there some problems that we don't know about?

Not sure. As I've said, I think there might be problems somewhere. Money, difference of opinion at high level, or something else.

Will be watching the game on Saturday in HD... i can't wait! Anyone else get the feeling a signing is on the way ... ala Rosicky?

Yeah, I just got HD but I'm at a BBQ on Saturday so it'll be SD for me.

A signing must be on it's way, it's a case of who. And how many hopefully.

I'm at work, so sky+'ing that baby!

The joys of supporting this club, paying more to watch them in my own home ^_^

He'll probably be starting a lot of games; he's certainly had a decent pre-season anyway. I'm still not convinced though. He's a Charlie Big Potatoes and just a big battering ram most of the time, plus he doesn't seem to get on very well with anyone and appears to be angling for a move all the time. If we'd have sold him this summer I wouldn't have been disappointed.

Are you talking about Adebayor or Bendtener? BDUM TISH!

I think Bendtner is a lot more skilfull then Adebayor.

I reckon pushing Kolo into defensive midfield and buying a proper old school centre half like campbell is the way forward.
